Introduction

Seems like after being Site Q for Two Wolves and handing over the reigns to Bean Counter, YHC noticed there was an opening on the Q sheet. Seems like it’s only fair to pick it up. YHC only Qd there one time before when there was a snafu on the sheet leaving a last minute opening, so was happy to plan something using some of the features of the AO.

5:15 rolled around, core principles recited, disclaimer given and off we go!

Warm-O-Rama

Pax were still rolling in, so we didn’t move right off the bat, but did 20 SSH in cadence to get started, followed by 10 Tappy Taps. Mosey to the “circle drive” then 10 Abe Vigotas in cadence. Continue the mosey to the baseball fields and do 10 Arm Circles forward and backward in Cadence.

The Thang

Thang 1: Vicious Circle

Pax lined up and ran in a circle at the edge of the infield. Last pax peeled off and did 2 burpees, then ran to the front of the line, and so on until every pax did 2 rounds of burpees. Continue the circle for 2 rounds of merkins.

Thang 2: Long Indian Run…

Pax Indian Ran along the trail to the base of the hill, briefly joined by the OP run club. At the base of the hill, reset the line, then Indian lunge walked up the hill (pax in back ran to the front, everyone else lunge walked in line).

Thang 3: Circuit

YHC led pax with:

20 dips at the top of the hill, Mosey down the path. 10 Merkins near the end of the 40 yard line, 10 yards bear crawl, 10 yards crab walk, mosey to monkey bars, then do the monkey bars, mosey to base of stairs – use stairs to do 10 Bulgarian Squats (each leg), then run to the top of the stairs.

Pax were instructed this was the circuit, and were set OYO to complete as many rounds as possible.

At 5:52, YHC stopped at the top, plank variations were held until pax all returned to the top of the stairs.

Mary:

20 LBC in cadence
20 Big Boys on YHC’s “up”
20 Heel Touches in cadence
20 Manatees in cadence
20 Swimmers in cadence
20 Flutter Kicks in cadence

Circle of Trust

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”

He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

I have a little bit of Cherokee in me – my great great grandmother was dropped in Southeast Missouri on a doorstep during the trail of tears with a note saying they didn’t want her to grow up on a reservation.

I connect this story with my faith as a Christian, Galatians Chapter 5 talks about two different ways of living starting in vs 16

I say be guided by the Spirit and you won’t carry out your selfish desires. 17 A person’s selfish desires are set against the Spirit, and the Spirit is set against one’s selfish desires. They are opposed to each other, so you shouldn’t do whatever you want to do. 18 But if you are being led by the Spirit, you aren’t under the Law. 19 The actions that are produced by selfish motives are obvious, since they include sexual immorality, moral corruption, doing whatever feels good, 20 idolatry, drug use and casting spells, hate, fighting, obsession, losing your temper, competitive opposition, conflict, selfishness, group rivalry, 21 jealousy, drunkenness, partying, and other things like that. I warn you as I have already warned you, that those who do these kinds of things won’t inherit God’s kingdom.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against things like this. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the self with its passions and its desires.

25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow the Spirit. 26 Let’s not become arrogant, make each other angry, or be jealous of each other.

Point being, there is some truth to which wolf you feed – is it the selfish one, the evil one, or the one of the Spirit, the good one?

Prayers were said – with a special mention to Appletini’s brother

Naked Man Moleskin

YHC was glad to be able to share the connection to Two Wolves – the story of the Cherokee resonates – obviously, a very small part of me is Native American, however the story of how that part came to be always gripped me as one of sacrifice for the betterment of your children. I hope to live by this principle every day, although I know I come up short.

Thank you to all the pax that came out to support my first planned Q at 2 Wolves, it was a pleasure. I look forward to more in the future.
