Introduction
I’ve been thinking a lot the last few days about how fortunate we really are. This concept can be as deep or shallow as you want it to be. I will start by pointing out the obvious…what a STACKED region we have here at F3Naperville. Have you seen the lineup of Q’s for tomorrow !?
Please, go out and support the VQ’s, Birthday Q’s, Pants-less Q’s… whatever you want. If it so happens to work for you, I would also appreciate some love at my Outpost Q tomorrow, Friday 2/11 5:15am!
Following in Sir Mix-A-Lot’s footsteps, I am going to challenge PAX to wear a vest tomorrow if you are up for it. Let’s get that extra burn going in to the weekend. Bring your coupons as we may or may not use them. As always, modify as necessary.
I am also fortunate that as siteQ today, I already have a preset callout list … the list of PAX who attended today’s beatdown Let’s get those HC’s in. Whether here or somewhere else … COMMIT!
Got to the AO around 5:05. Did a quick run around the lot towards the paths to discover that they still had not even been shoveled…ever. So time to adapt.

CoT
The pre-blast teased that we are all so fortunate. Fortunate for many things in life. For one…this amazing group and all of the amazing leaders involved in it. What a stacked day for Q’s. I used my CoT today to get something off of my chest that had been on my mind since Tuesday. At Tuesday’s Late Start, HHGregg made a somewhat eye opening comment that stuck with me. It was something along the lines of “everyone here is most likely well off / wealthy.” The reason this stuck out to me is because for the most part, he is absolutely right. However, I NEVER considered this to be true about myself. I always prided myself on growing up in some very modest conditions. Having a single mom, raising three kids, we kind of lived paycheck to paycheck. We always had a roof over our heads and she made sure we were fed, but we were definitely NOT wealthy. I did not get new/nice things all the time. We didn’t have much above the necessities in life.
Fast Forward to now and I feel I have worked hard to get myself and my family into the position we are today. HHGregg’s comments really struck home because without even realizing it, I am now in this ‘category’ that I never thought I would be in. I can actually afford things outside of the necessities. I can provide my kids with a life that I never had. My kids are in a great and safe city. They go to a great school district. They go to school…period. Below are some interest stats I came across yesterday. This is comparing Naperville to Illinois all together and the United States as a whole.
Average Household Income – United States: $63K, Illinois: $66K, Naperville: $126K
Average Value of Home – United States: $271K, Illinois: $195K, Naperville: $416K
High School Graduation Rate – United States: 88%, Illinois: 89%, Naperville: 97%
College Graduation Rate – United States: 32%, Illinois: 34%, Naperville: 68%
PAX in Naperville (and surrounding areas likely) … we are doing pretty good for ourselves. Our families are taken care of. Our children have many opportunities to do things that children before them could never dream of. Our kids are going to great schools in amazing school districts and going off to college (or otherwise) and making something of their lives.
Complaining about masks while threatening to throw our money around is probably not the best approach…
To clarify…I CANNOT wait for the mask mandates to be over. I look forward to my kids being maskless again in schools. I firmly believe that all parents can and should want to fight for what they feel is right for their kids. However, there are proper ways to do this. Let’s not lose sight of all the amazing things that we do have. Appreciate them. There are many others out there who are far less fortunate.
Naked Man Moleskin
Others have repeatedly said this before but sometimes getting out here in the gloom is the best form of therapy. Especially when you can get something off of your chest via your CoT. It felt great to speak my mind and heart to the group. (much better than starting a civil war on Slack)
Coffeeteria with Crab Legs, Rhinestone, and Elway was great afterwards.
Shoutout to the vest crew! Columbus, Leuben, DINGO!!!, and first timer One Eye Willy! Way to push yourself even further.
Thanks for reading.
As always, it is a pleasure to lead the fine men in this group.
