Introduction

What is your why? I came across an article from Pat McNamara which talks about the importance of staying in shape which really resonated with me. His reasons were as follows.

  1. Self-Preservation and Longevity
  2. Saving your own life
  3. Saving someone else’s life
  4. Kicking Someone’s A$$

My question to the PAX was what is your why? Is it all of the above or something else?

I woke up early to get my mind right before the workout and to drop off my car at the parking garage. I put 2 coupons and an 80lb sandbag in the trunk for the workout. We didn’t get to use them as much as I would have liked to. Something to consider for next time.

After parking the car, I ran to Dark Tower to get ready for the workout. As I experienced the bitter cold I thought to myself why am I doing this its crazy. Then I went back to my why and thought that I am here for a purpose. Let’s get after it.

Mosey to parking garage

Partner Up for Dora

  1. Level 1 – 100 Merkins, Partner runs to the end of the level and back
  2. Level 1a – Move up the parking garage, 100 Merkins, Partner runs to the end of the level and back
  3. Level 2 – 100 Squats, Partner runs to the end of the level and back
  4. Level 2a – Move up the parking garage, 100 Squats, Partner runs to the end of the level and back
  5. Level 3 – 100 Carolina Dry Docks, Partner runs to the end of the level and back
  6. Level 3a – Move up the parking garage, 100 Carolina Dry Docks, Partner runs to the end of the level and back
  7. Level 4 – 100 Lunges, Partner runs to the end of the level and back
  8. Level 4a – Move up the parking garage, 100 Lunges, Partner runs to the end of the level and back
  9. Level 5 – 100 Derkins, Partner runs to the end of the level and back
  10. This took a lot longer than I thought it would. The Dora was stopped here to get to Thang 2

Thang 2

I pulled out the coupons and sandbag from my car and called the PAX to form three lines

  1. The First Line carried an 80lb sandbag to the end of the level and back. A cold sandbag is really hard to move around and many PAX seemed hesitant to give it a try. Bongo, Radio Flyer and Rusty stepped up to the challenge to carry the Sandbag.
  2. The Second and Third-lines farmer carried one coupon to the end of the level and back
  3. Thang 1 took so long that Thang 2 got cut short. Next time I adjust accordingly.

Mosey back to the parking lot.

Circle of Trust

I hope you thought about your why for getting up and being out here. It is freezing cold outside and I don’t normally want to get up. However, my why drives me to get up and move forward. For me self-preservation and longevity pushes me to get up. I lost my father when I was young. So, I want to do my part to help ensure that I am around for my wife and kids. I want to make sure that I have enough energy to chase them around, carry them upstairs or save them from a dangerous situation.

We don’t know how long we have on earth so make each day count. Psalm 90:12 says “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Make the most of each day your family needs you and your community needs you.

Heavenly Father, thank you for this day and the opportunity to get minds and bodies right. Help us to see our why each day and be positive influences for our families and communities.

F3 has meant so much more to me than a work out. I look forward to the fellowship each day. I know it has grown me as a leader and enhanced my ability to communicate and improvise.
