Introduction

There was an extra nip in the air upon arrival at 6:05am. I pulled up to meet Shirley Temple, our BA owner of the 2 wooden sleds and Big Boy coupons needed for our 2nd Olympic event today. After that set up it was time to lay out 8 cones and a hockey net around the two pavilions.

Taking my gloves off to check my phone, my fingers nearly froze off.

But today was about the Olympics and going for the Gold…fingers or not…

The Thang

PAX split into two teams which otherwise came to be known as Jamaica vs. USA

Thang #1 Figure 8 Skating

  • 8 PT Stations lined up in Figure 8 Formation from West Pavillion around the baseball fields. (About .5 miles of running) PAX were to complete 8 reps of each exercise at each station. The first PAX to finish would take individual gold and the first team to finish would take the team gold.
    • Station 1 – Merkins
    • Station 2 – Mountain Climbers
    • Station 3 – Burpees
    • Station 4 – 1 Legged Dips
    • Station 5 – Bonnie Blairs
    • Station 6 – Hydraulics
    • Station 7 – Derkins
    • Station 8 – (Removed Should Taps)

Results:

  • Individual Gold: Blues Clues (USA)
  • Team Gold: Jamaica

Thang #2 – Bobsled

PAX lined up in parking lot with two heavy sleds. This was a 3 heat race, first team to win 2 of 3 heats took gold. Each heat had slight variation of distance + PT.

  • 1st Heat – Double Back Sled Push (40 yards) – USA
  • 2nd Heat – Single Down Sled Push (20 Yards) – Jamaica
  • 3rd Heat – Single Down Sled Push + Bear Crawls – USA

Results:

  • Individual Gold: Uncle Rico (Jamaica) *By observation
  • Team Gold: USA

Thang #3 – Ice Hockey

PAX lined up in pavilion with a hockey net, pucks and sticks. This would be a shootout. Each PAX got 3 shots on the other countries netminder. Six rounds would decide gold. We did 10 Merkins on Q’s down after each round, 120 merkins and SSH mixed in.

  • Individual Goal: N/A Team Medal Award Only
  • Team Gold: Jamaica *Came down to a sudden death shot top shelf by Uncle Rico to seal the victory for Jamaica

Circle of Trust

Appreciate you all coming out, especially on a cold day like today to close out these 2022 F3 Winter Olympics. This is the 5th Q I’ve been able to lead in this two week period with over 10 events taken place, I hope you all had some fun as this is something I wanted to do to help get through the most challenging time of year in my opinion. February and all the cold, ice and snow it brings for example.

That said, this makes me think of the phrase we throw around quite a bit…“Freed to Lead”.

Being “Freed to Lead” doesn’t mean do whatever you want. Yes, I wanted to run these Winter Olympics and have fun but again, being “Freed to Lead” means much more.

Being “Freed to Lead” means caring about others, taking care of others, respecting others, doing what’s right and doing things at a higher level among many other things that are required for a High Impact Man to be…a High Impact Man.

So, during these closing ceremonies and until the next time we do this, maybe in 4 years, think about that…think about what being “Freed to Lead” means to you.

Prayers.

Naked Man Moleskin

Competition was on point today! Way to bring it OP7. Tclaps to Leuban whering a vest and battling a rolled ankle, Uncle Rico going top shelf to win it for Jamaica in the final shoutout round (The drama!), and Belly Flop traveling all the way from Elmhurst for his FNG day.

Til next time…
