Many PAX have probably heard about the Plainfield boil order that occurred about 10 days ago.  I received a call from the Public Works Director on a Friday looking for assistance.  The next few days were very chaotic helping the Village confirm the water was safe to drink, navigate IEPA requirements, and lift the boil order.  The amount of effort and coordination over a weekend to lift the boil order was nothing short of heroic.

However, what really struck me about this event was the abuse that the Village took on Social Media.  I realize that this was a huge inconvenience for people but it was really disappointing to see the negative comments posted by people who didn’t know the facts and conducted personal attacks on people.  Those of us in F3 are leaders and people who are able to make decisions based on facts and reviewing information rather than knee jerk reactions.  One of the dangers of social media is that it is too easy to jump on the bandwagon without thinking about it.  We are going to have different opinions  but let’s all remember to be respectful and think through things before jumping to conclusions.
