Introduction

Rusty reached out a few days before Saturday needing a Substitute Q as he needed to be out of town. YHC saw the signal early enough to grab the reins. Started perusing other regions’ Backblasts to find some inspiration or some new Thangs that looked fun. Stumbled upon a few different ones from The Fort (Charlotte, SC area). Jump ropes needed. Coupons needed. YHC arrived early and set up some flags and soccer balls out on one of the fields. This one was gonna potentially have some fun elements to it!

Warm-O-Rama

It was a beautiful Saturday morning! Sun was shining, the cricket emojis on the Pre-blast had long been ignored by those trying to poke some bear, Appletini and Captain Underpants started shenanigans early, and Crab Legs was a No-show.  Time to warm up!

WoR: Capri Lap around the lot + Good Morning’s IC + Mountain Climbers IC + ReverseLungeHorseLunge IC + Capri Lap.

The Thang

Thang 1: Caterpillar + Coupon Conveyor Belt. Caterpillar from the main lot Eastward to the far parking lot. This took awhile. YHC thought about stopping at a few points but decided to keep it up. There were 2 Coupons awaiting us at the far lot so we had to get there anyway. Stopping and just mosey-ing would have saved some time but would have been the easy way out. Once we reached the far playground we split into two teams of 4 with the two coupons. Each team of 4 had to Coupon Pass (or Coupon Conveyor Belt) all the way back down the path. Again, this took awhile and was longer than YHC had ever Coupon Pass-ed. The team of Appletini, Carmen Sandiego, Captain Underpants, and Snorkle couldn’t really find a rhythm until the second half of the race. It sucked for everyone so didn’t apply any penalties for their ridiculousness. Recover.

Thang 2: Core DORA. There were 4 stations for a Core DORA at the soccer field. PAX partnered up in 2’s. Exercises were 100 Foxholes, 200 American Hammers w/ Coupons, and 300 Freddy Mercury’s IC. While one Partner worked on those, the other Partner Cusack Carry’d a Coupon down the field to their flag and turned back around. WHILE KICKING A SOCCER BALL! See? Balls were in fact kicked around at OP7! This was a grind. Heavy on the abs and core and then shoulders were feeling heavy, especially after the plank holding in Caterpillar and Coupon Pass-ing. Recover.

Thang 3:

PAX circled back up in the lot. We performed Colt 45’s IC (on my down) and then went into 100 Single Under (Jump Ropes). First PAX to hit 100 released the group from any more jumps. Then we all took a Capri Lap around the lot. Rinse/Repeat FOUR times. Recover.

Recommended each PAX perform 1 Random Act of Kindness that day.

Prayers for Carmen Sandiego’s Dad as he battles COVID in the ICU, and for Appletini’s brother Tom as he battles early stages of cancer.

Naked Man Moleskin

OP7 attendance has been a grind for a while. A number of factors at play there but when there was somewhere near 120-ish PAX posting on a Saturday morning all over F3 Naperville, that’s what really matters. That’s like double the counts from just a short while ago. Men around this Naperville and Aurora and Lisle and Oswego area are getting out and pushing themselves on Saturday mornings after their long weeks of early mornings and regular everyday life adding up. They go where it’s convenient or where they’re gonna have a good time. Many get caught up in big big numbers but more often than not, some of the more fun posts are with smaller PAX counts. They provide more opportunity to connect with another PAX – less opportunity to hide in the middle of a big pack – mumblechatter can be a little more inclusive.

What a fun fun morning with Appletini, Bozo, Chaps, Captain Underpants, Carmen Sandiego, Leuben, and Snorkle. All 8 of us were at Coffeeteria as well. Heart was full driving home to start a dance and birthday weekend with the family!

Love, Uncle Rico
