Introduction

Day four of the gauntlet.

As I was loading my car, I tripped over a sandbag and fell flat on my face on my driveway. Leading with my right knee, which is now totally jacked up.

This did not improve my disposition today .

Gutted through it, which may have not been the best decision. We shall see later in the day.

Put together a shoulder/arms burner in the freezing cold wind at Dark Tower.

With one gimpy leg .. .  the show must go on.

Special thanks to Fredo, Sun Devil, Urban Cowboy and Dorn for the set up help as I was limping around.

THANG 1

Stations. Partner up with a guy roughly your size. We determined that Dorn and Urban Cowboy are now all time partners.

1- Standing shoulder press with 46  pound big boy coupon

2- Antonio Browns

3- Diamond merkins

4- Side raises with small sandbags (thank you riunite!!) or conduits

5- Shrugs with 46 pound big boy coupon

6- Upright rows with 25 pound sandbag.

Each station was roughly a minute long . . . the goal was to push yourself and your partner AMRAP style.

THANG 2

Lets go for a mosey . . .

Mosey to west bridge by DT. Partner wheelbarrow across the bridge, then switch with partner to go back.

Mosey to bridge by the cafe

Gorilla hang for time. URBAN COWBOY WON! DINGO WAS SECOND PLACE!! I WAS LAST PLACE!!!

Mosey to “octogon” by paddleboats.

1 partner do dips

2nd partner hold plank

Switch after 45 seconds.

Circle up.

After a brief technical delay where PAX did SSH, we did Shoulder Presses to “Flower” by Moby. Extra props to Riunite who did them with big boy coupons with me.

Shoulders trashed . . .  its 6:00 as the song ends.

Circle of Trust

CoT is about pain versus injury.

Im in a lot of pain today. I hurt my damn knee this morning tripping over a sandbag and Ive been gimping around ever since. But there is a difference between pain/hurt versus being injured. If you are injured . . . you cant compete. If you are hurt/feel pain . . . you can still perform. We push ourselves through a lot of pain and a lot of hurt in these boot camps. We say “I am not a professional . . I do not know your injuries. Modify as necessary.” which is important, and needed. But no one knows your own body better than you. If you are injured . .  . modify as needed. DO NOT injure yourself further. But if you are just hurt . . . if you just feel pain/soreness while doing these exercises .  . push past that wall of pain and get to the next level. Push yourself to achieve your goals . . . whatever they may be. To get bigger, stronger, faster, lose weight, finish 75hard, finish a run without walking, etc . . . you need to challenge yourself to push past the pain and the hurt.

So are you injured? Or are you just hurting?

Sun Devil- Not only have you been to every football gauntlet workout this week, you have been doing EC rucks too. Bad ASS!!!

Shandy- Thank you for having my 6! I guess we need bungee cords when the wind this this stupid in the mornings for the flags.

Riunite- Every football gauntlet AND taking big boy coupons for extra difficulty. MY MAN!!!!!

Urban Cowboy- I honestly would not have bet on you to win the gorilla hang. Its harder the bigger you are, so normally the guys built like track stars tend to win. Way to prove them all wrong!!!!

Fredo- THANK YOU for all the help in set up and break down too. Plus an EC ruck!! Love that you are coming out on a regular basis again my friend.

Dorn- So just like urban cowboy . . . you are a badass. You see the smaller guys doing the burpee challenge . .  but there you are during pauses knocking out burpees with Urban Cowboy like they are nothing . . . your growth this year has been great to witness my friend. (Pssst . . . Menards for the best coupon selection)

Skilling- After a hiatus he is back! Great to have to back ITG my friend. (Better luck next year in fantasy football)

Dingo- A close second place on the gorilla hang!! Great job mate! And way to “embrace the suck” with the bigger coupons. I know they are an added challenge . . but you step right up with a big smile on your face every time.

Mellencamp- GREAT job today! Another one of the esteemed few that have completed everything in the gauntlet so far! I am definitely looking forward to your VQ. Plus congrats on attending your first Q source!
