Introduction

So, as the preblast was written. I realized I need to step up my emoji game or start using gifs or something… Anyway – had planned a couple different activities, a large group one that wouldn’t require coupons, or a small group one that would. I was happy to see that we didn’t have a ton of Pax so small group it was.

I arrived at the AO around 20 minutes before the beatdown, and jogged over to the hill to set up a cone at the top. As I jogged over there, my feet got wet with the dew on the grass. I was thankful for the cool morning, and knew that I had a rather simple, but grueling task ahead of me.

5:15 arrived Pax circled up, disclaimer was recited, and the fun began…

Warm-O-Rama

Warm up:

  • 20 SSH In Cadence
  • 10 Arm Circles In Cadence (10 forward, then 10 backward)
  • Motivators from 5
  • 10 Tappy Taps In Cadence (slow and stretchy)

Grab coupons and mosey to the base of the hill.

The Thang

Thang 1 (and only):
The Thang was simple 11’s, with Blockees at the base of the hill and Bonnie Blairs (each leg counts as 1/2) at the top of the hill.

As Carmen SanDiego said at the end, it was simple and sucky. Glad I could help. FNG Sosa said he works out on his own a lot, but never that hard. I was happy to have played a small role in pushing Sosa beyond what he would do on his own.

Grab your coupon and mosey back to the flags

Mary:

30 Wide Leg Situps in tempo 2 counts up – 2 counts down (sit with legs straight out and separated as far as comfortable – place left hand behind head, right hand up over head, reach to left toe, then switch every rep).

Circle of Trust

The thought for the day was perseverance, the ability to hold steadfast in your path despite adversity. If you look at people who are highly successful in all walks of life, be it in business, sports, music, acting, or whatever, they tend to have something you can’t learn in school. Grit. The ability to overcome and obstacle.

I would butcher a great quote from Muhammad Ali about perseverance when asked about training, so I paraphrase. When asked about what he liked most about training, he said nothing. He hated training, but he suffered through it because he wanted to be a champion.

This idea of perseverance is one that has resonated with me. The world has been rocked since the beginning of 2020, but I am confident that when it is all said and done, we will as a world be stronger because of it because when we suffer through something, we come out stronger on the other side. Another thing that came to mind is the idea of the workouts we do. The one today was simple, but it would take grit and determination. One advantage we have of men of F3 is that we can lean on our brothers, be it our shield lock, or other people in our workout to help pick us up and push us to overcome obstacles. Let’s continue to be High Impact Men and persevere through our challenges. Lean on your brothers as they may lean on you when you can, but if need be, resolve to be steadfast in your walk despite obstacles.

Let’s pray – Father God, thank you for the ability to get up and get the day started off right with these other men. Special prayers for Mr. Miyagi, who is the epitome of perseverance, who will overcome his adversity and will be out in the gloom with us soon. Also, special prayers for Carmen SanDiego’s mother, who he is caring for. May the family feel your hands on their house, and may they be comforted and have divine Peace. In your Son’s name we lift these prayers.

Amen

So, in planning this workout, I planned 2 alternate thangs. One being what we did with a smaller group, and the other being a bit different if we had a large group that would need more space. I was glad it would be a smaller group so we could use the hill. Sometimes things just seem to work out for the best I think.

Anyway – glad to have another Thang 1 planned for an upcoming workout. Also, I had a Thang 2 planned, but really underestimated the time it would take to run up and down that darn hill, so I’m looking forward to my next Q….

Highlights of the workout were Sweet Gherkins inspired by the “Nala” workout to sing the opening of Lion King when the sun came up, and whoever started the gas motor in Mary. Always good for a laugh.
