Introduction

It was a crisp clear morning at The Ridge. 31 degrees and stars in full display. Light winds around 7 miles per hour, so all in all, a beautiful morning for a beatdown. I went back and forth between two options and settled on the option that kept us in the parking lot.

Gave the standard disclaimers and made special mention of COVID guidelines to make even greater efforts to space out, etc.

The Thang

Thang 1 = Welsch Dragons up to 10 (4 bear crawl steps / 1 merkin / 1 tap on each shoulder / 1 plank jack) repeat with 2 reps of merkins / shoulder taps / plank jacks etc. all the way up to 10.

Thang 2 = double 11’s – 10 double merkin burpees and 10 bonnie blaires (each leg 1/2 rep) rifle carry coupon approx 30 yards, then 1 big boy sit up and 1 Carolina Dry Dock. Repeat until finished

Thang 3 = Push / Run / Carry / Run (this is a partner race)

Was informed that we are not allowed to push coupons across parking lot at The Ridge, so modified.

Partner 1 in plank while partner 2 performs Rifle carry run to cone and back / sprint to cone and back / Rifle carry to cone and back / backwards run to cone and back. Flip flop partners.

We did two rounds of Thang 3 and PAX were pretty much finished at that point.

Headed back to flags for two minutes of flutter kicks and the 6:00 A.M. bell came to the rescue.

Circle of Trust

Prayers for all the PAX dealing with COVID and prayers for Mark Bailey, and young man dealing with aggressive cancer.

CoT was basically an encouragement to be especially diligent during these times as it is so easy for people to slip through the cracks. I shared a story about one of my friends that has dealt with depression on and off for several years. A couple months back, he called his admin assistant to verify that he had an updated will. She alertly notified some people who rushed to his house and found him in an admittedly suicidal state. The irony is that while there were plenty of hospital beds for COVID patients, there we absolutely no beds available in the area for mental health or substance abuse related illnesses. Way too many of our brothers are suffering silently and we need to really have our radars active and pay close attention to our brothers.

Naked Man Moleskin

F3 exists for the “Invigoration of male leadership” in our communities. As the prolonged effects of this pandemic and related socio economic impact continue, we must remain strong and vigilant. Now more than ever, let’s not keep this brotherhood a secret, but share it with as many as we can! We need it and they need it.
