Introduction

2.0 Joey turns 2.0 years old today. A couple years ago I was in the Fort Stewart GA hospital with my M as she ummm was, you know, birthing a human. Today, out ITG with F3 brothers. HCs were slow at first but picked up as the evening (and morning) went on and we ended up with a 17-pax burner. Biggest group I’ve had in my 3 Qs so far, nice! LFG.

Warm-O-Rama

Started with a jog around the cul-de-sac at 5:15 and then came back for Imperial Walkers, Mountain Climbers, and LBCs. Flush was on point responding to the cadence. Helps a Q out! Then run to the parking garage.

The Thang

Most of the workout was in the garage. We did 27 of each exercise:

-Level 1: Plank Jacks // Level 2: Reverse Lunges // Level 3: Superman Merkins // Level 4: Derkins on Partner’s back while the other guy planks.

To traverse from level to level each PAX picked a partner and raced them in a sprint on each incline. Different partner on each level, PAX were told to remember how many “wins” they had in the races. Once we got to level 3, the 2-0 PAX were put up against each other and the last level saw 2 of the 3 remaining 3-0 go against each other. Patchouli beat Sun Devil to the top level, with S.D.’s hammy saying “no mas” halfway through. Hope you’re good brother. FWIW Dingo came up and sprinted past jogging Sun Devil to rub it in.

At level 5 each PAX did 5 Burpees, and the TWIST was that for each “win” a PAX had in their sprints, they got 5 additional burpees. We then ran back down and over to the bridge.

Thang 1 took a bit longer than I planned for so it’s 5:45 or so and we start a set of 11s I know we won’t finish. Starting from 1, pull ups on the bridge then from 10, 4-count rocky balboas at dandelion fountain. After each pax got to about 5 or 6 we moseyed back to the base of the tower for Mary.

Mary: A few early risers on the steps of Moser Tower so we gave em some space and finished in he grass… 27 LBCs, 20 J-Los, 27 American Hammers.

6:00 a.m. Recover Recover. Moonlight was off (did he even HC?) and we finished up with COT.

Circle of Trust

Drive — In today’s preblast, I posed the question, “How much drive do you have?” I saw drive in those sprints. Drive to finish up all those burpees after winning at sprints… Drive is defined as “an innate, biologically determined urge to attain a goal or satisfy a need.” We are all gifted by our creator with a natural instinct to achieve. As men, a big part of this involves realizing victory and fulfilling that for which we strive.

The mission of F3 is to plant, grow, and serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership. However, our culture often attempt to appease us by hearkening to our base desire to do what’s easy, familiar, and comfortable. Fortunately, deep down we all have what it takes to understand that living those lies will cause us to drift slowly into the quicksand of convenience and comfort. This is antithetical to our drive to live meaningful lives.

Here in our community, in Naperville Illinois, today and every day we have an ace up our sleeve! We have the Daily Red Pill (DRP) of joining our F3 brothers and sparking that drive. REMEMBER OUR MISSION – This workout should get you going. It should invigorate you. It should challenge you! But remember, the workout is not the mission. The workout is the springboard to mission. So men, today, let’s love our families, serve the community, and live the mission.

Our Father.

Naked Man Moleskin

I thought maybe a bit too much running for a BC but the AARs I sought have assured me I was in-scope (of course I only asked skinny guys). I enjoyed getting competition into the workout today and will hope to do that more. I think there’s something in us that gets fueled by working to win in an external way. There is self-discipline involved in each workout and accountability as well. But sometimes it’s just fun to go at it and have a winner. Maybe we’ll do more of that sort of thing in my Qs.

I broke down and read off notes for the COT and didn’t really want to, but I am glad I did. There was one message I gave on sacrifice at my VQ and had notes and decided to just go from the heart, and I’m glad I did then too. I think something I learned today is that by showing up differently in different moments, some times that’s the spot where you have the most impact. And in some ways you can do this and still be true to yourself. COT notes vs. no notes is today’s example. Hmmm i feel another COT coming on.

Thanks to the 16 PAX that joined me this morning. Was nice to have temps below 60 and not a gnat to be seen/felt. Apparently the gnats only get up for easy. Who knew?
