Introduction

I was both humbled to be asked to lead an F3-24 Q and nervous that the bar would be set high for a premier event for F3 Naperville.  On top of that, I’ve only had a couple of posts at Dark Tower and had never been on Q there.  I started digging into the Backblast library and put a simple but effective plan together.

Rolling into this morning, I knew there were six HIMs who had turned this into a CSAUP outing and were working to complete all 24 workouts.  I couldn’t let them down.

I arrived early, set up my cones on the hill (which were accidentally taken down before we got there), turned on my speaker, and waited for the PAX to arrive.

The disclaimer was given and the five core principles reviewed.

Let’s go!

DORA BOMBS

We partnered up by the short bridge.  While one partner ran to the covered bridge, crossed the river, and returned, the second partner completed:

  • 50 Burpees
  • 100 Overhead Claps
  • 150 Merkins
  • 200 Big Boys
  • 250 Squats

Thang 2

Ladder up the Hill

We moseyed over to the base of the hill.  The group did Side Straddle Hops while I re-set the cones.  The PAX then completed a ladder up the hill.

  • Lunge walk to first cone, run back
  • Bear Crawl to second cone, run back
  • Bernie Sanders to third cone, run back
  • Run to fourth cone, run back

Everyone got to the third cone before it was time to head back for Mary.

Mary

  • LBCs- 25 IC
  • American Hammers- 20 IC
  • Swimmers- 20 IC
  • Plank until 8:45

Circle of Trust

I had planned to talk about the book I’m currently reading, The Comfort Crisis, and embracing discomfort, which seemed appropriate for the six HIMs working toward completing 24 posts.

But then yesterday happened.  My oldest son is a senior in the marching band at Oswego East.  Last night was supposed to be the last regular home football game and senior night.  During the afternoon, we received a message from the school that all events would be canceled for the evening, and we soon learned that a senior football player had passed away earlier in the day by his own hand.

My message to the men was simple.  Hug your kids.  Talk to them.  Make sure you know what is going on in their lives.  Be there for them.

Naked Man Moleskin

I could not be more impressed by “the six” as they are becoming to be known as, even if all of them are not successful in their mission.  Each one has stepped way out of their comfort zone, and I am inspired by them.  I can’t wait to be there tonight when they finish.

Until next time,

Judge
