What kind of tricks does @Parks and Rec have planned for tomorrow? You will have to HC to find out! Treat yourself to beatdown and start your Friday off right. No coupons. Wear gloves if that is your thing. Mostly pavement, be prepared to get a little wet. !
Warm-O-Rama
We warmed with some classic warmup exercises:
- Tappy Taps
- Abe Vigodas
- Mountain Climbers done properly in cadence (sort of)
- SSH done properly in cadence (sort of)
The Thang
THANG 1: Five Station Jubilation
- Derkins
- Bobby Hurley’s
- Merkin with a Plank Jack
- Burpees
- Windshield Wipers
QIC led the PAX around the AO to demonstrate the route and exercises. We did 15 reps of each together. When we completed 15 reps, we grabbed the sandbags (20lb, 2 x 40lbs and 60lbs) and added those to the rotation. PAX were encouraged to grab a bag and move it between stations. We were off and running now OYO. 14 reps this time around and then reduce one rep each time the circuit was completed. Almost all PAX completed 15-10. one PAX, Boxcutter was moving this morning. He completed 15-8. Excellent work brother.
We closed the workout with 30 American Hammers and a little plank until 6:00am.
Circle of Trust
Prayers were offered up for our brother Handy Manny’s mother, Appletini’s brother, my friend Royce, CSD’s family, and all of the other unspoken prayers that we hold in our hearts.
Aladdin brought his buddy from Legacy and we named him “Chunky Monkey” because that is the name of one of his shakes at his juice/smoothie bar/gym.
We all gathered at Legacy afterwards and I had an Iced Protein Coffee. Pretty good stuff!
Naked Man Moleskin
As I was thinking about the beatdown on Thursday at coffeeteria, I contemplated setting up the same “thang” in the parking garage to avoid getting wet. I know that there are some people who do not like getting wet. I’m often reminded of one workout I Q’d when it was in the upper 40’s with some mist. The PAX were soaked that day. I arrived at La Luz about 4:50 and there was a slight mist, but it was in the 50’s and I said to myself that we will do this thing outside, because the weather will be an added layer of SUCK. The “thang” called for us to be on the ground and sure enough, I got wet. We all go stronger though. We often say that what we do in the morning will be the hardest thing we do that day. Most of the time that is right. I love the feeling of accomplishing something difficult in adverse conditions. STAY HARD!
