Introduction

IRON PAX CHALLENGE is upon us and for the last two years F3 Naperville has proved to be a contender in this greatest athletic competition in the ultraverse! YHC couldn’t wait to get started so instead of waiting for the “Wednesday” or “Friday” official AO IPC Q’s… I decided why wait??  After sending out the PREBLAST on this “outside the lines” IPC Q, I was receiving all kinds of Slack DMs…”I thought we were doing it Wednesday?”, “Are we allowed to do it more then once a week?”, “Will it count if we do it with you as opposed to Wednesday or Friday?”, “Will there be long distances”, “Is this an out and back” (-@At)… Blah Blah Blah… So needless to say IPC was on!

The conditions were a balmy 74 degrees. Clear skies. Traffic to DT was light ITG, and I rolled up just in time to watch Drago prep for IPC.  He was doing the Barynya..which is the traditional IPC Russian prep dance, all the while practicing his squat and bonnie blair form.  (Fake ID knows what that’s about since he is also Russian) He was ready to roll!  On the other side of me was Boxcutter punching himself square in the face and performing the ceremonial HAKA dance, commonly associated with traditional battle preparations. He showed me a tattoo he got the night before that read “#wakefield”… (not sure what that was about 😉 Needless to say one by one, the fellas started showing up and the blood was pumping, mumblechatter was had, logistics on the 400 meter run were being drawn up, and the clock was ticking.

0515 was upon us and we circled it up!

Warm-O-Rama

Disclaimer was given… History and Intro of what IPC is was given and off we went.

SSH IC 40

Imperial Walkers IC 25

Abe Vigodas IC 15

Squats IC 25  (YHC made sure to explain that this was for illustration of the CORRECT FORM) No other variations will be accepted.  Past 90 degrees on the bend, back as straight as possible, and full hip extension at the top.

That’s all we had time for…

Muggsy had texted that he was coming in real hot.. so he showed up right as we finished our short warm up and we moseyed to the spot…. He doesn’t need any warm up anyway… 1. He knows how to do a mean squat! 2.  He’s on the watchlist for IPC 2020 Champ… so let’s make him work for it! LOL.

We moseyed over to the park area with the sand volleyball court. QIC wanted to run the 400 meter loop to make sure we had the distance correct.  Ball Boy started his watch as we moseyed around and back to the area where the path splits off and the bridge starts.  According his watch.. we were a tad short so we had to add a “Camel’s Hump” as I called it to the loop by going into the parking lot around the parking stops and back on the path to come back.  Worked out perfectly… #simplemath

YHC explained the challenge and Drago got his timing device ready and on display so we can check the time as we cross the finish line.

As always I talked about never giving up no matter what part of your life you are facing adversity in… Fitness, Professional, Family, Faith, etc..

Run if you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must… just never give up!

Prayers for Miyagi, TBD on the eve of his surgery, Webelos’s friends wife’s recovery , and all those in our hearts and minds.

Thanks were given to the Sky Q.

AMEN

Naked Man Moleskin

There are always times when we as men fall into a groove. Whether good or bad, it’s essential to mix it up on occasion.  For me competition does that.  IPC Challenge is what spices up my end of summer when it comes to F3 Fitness.  I love it. I like the competition. I like to win…(even though I used to do more of it. lol)…Win, lose, or draw isn’t what it’s about.. it’s about showing up, competing as hard as you can, fighting until the very end, and finishing what you started no matter how great the odds are against you.  I love to talk shit, everyone knows that, but it’s what gets me fired up. Almost all the time you will find me talking shit to a PAX that I know will wipe the floor with me fitness wise, but that’s what I love the most. Trying to take on what I see as the impossible.  IPC reminds of the old days when I used to challenge the fastest guys to a race… “I’m feeling fast”.. remember that FIB? When I used to embarrass you in front of everyone?  That was awesome!! Anyways… I challenge all of you to get out of your comfort zone, compete in something you know you are going to lose at, but give it everything you got. Show whatever it is or whoever it is you are fighting, that there is no way on God’s green earth that you will ever stop coming back for more! Then do it again, and again! Be HARD TO KILL!

Have fun with this IPC challenge because that’s what it’s supposed to be….. FUN!!  Get after it, and REP F3 Naperville with as much heart as you can!

SYITG

PEACE AND LOVE!

Appletini – OUT.
