Thinking a lot about love lately. Oddly, it’s in the context of the current hate crimes and intimidation that many Asian Americans are suffering through right now.

My wife is Vietnamese. My children are half-Vietnamese. My in-laws, my family – all Asian American. And the recent wave of hate and violence have led my wife to question aloud if she would feel safe going to the grocery store. In Plainfield. My heart breaks to hear these things, not just as a husband, father, son in law and brother in law. But because of the brokenness of our world that has led to this.

I love that F3 is open to ALL men. It doesn’t matter background, looks, creed, beliefs. We are all one. Let us carry that torch every day into our lives when we see other men throughout the day. We can be a part of better change when applying that simple principle to every facet of every day.

You see, in my mind, being open to ALL men means we love all men. In broader context, we love all people. We accept them. We are note hateful or hurtful towards one another because we have identified our uniqueness and determined a discrepancy. It is that uniqueness that makes us one, having all come from the one who created us.

So go out and love today. Stand up for what is right, and lead like the men that you are, for ALL people. And most importantly, love.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
