Introduction

For those that didn’t want Fib to try and kill them at TC or Belichick to try and rope them into becoming Cleveland Browns fans, Dark Tower presents Monday Funday.  Shenanigans, Tomfoolery, and Mumblechatter…maybe even catch a workout while we’re at it!

50’s and clear made it a perfect morning to play outside with our buddies.  A playing field was setup with cones at the base of the sled hill for our games.

PAX counted off and partnered up.

Warm-O-Rama

19 PAX arrived and did a Mendoza Mosey from the parking lot to the base of the hill to the playing field with coupons in hand.  Upon arrival, we lined up at the end line and performed the following warmups down and back:

-Mosey

-Backpedal

-High Knees

-Zebra Butt Kicks

-Partner carioca

-Partner leapfrog

The Thang

Thang 1: Sharks and Minnows

Pax on the line with one PAX (YHC) as the shark. The rest of the PAX are minnows who try and run from end line to end line (at the yell of go) without being tagged by the shark. Get tagged…turn into a shark for the rest of that game.  Solid juke moves were attempted by some and even the slipperiest of Ball Boys, Ann Arbors, and Fake ID’s were captured.

Thang 2: Capture the Coupon

Coupons to the middle of the field.  Partners split up to opposite end lines forming 2 even-ish teams.  DJ Dr. Ralph was on the turntable.  PAX had the length of the song chosen by the good Doctor to try and recover all coupons to their end line. PAX could only advance towards coupons using the movement of that round. If coupons were all removed from the middle, they had to travel to the other team’s end line to steal one of their coupons. PAX were allowed to run coupons back to their own starting line. Rounds were as follows:

-Army Crawl (Bodies- Drowning Pool)

-Crab Walk (Fuel- Metallica)

-Bear Crawl (Know your enemy- Rage Against the Machine)

-3 forward rolls (somersaults) (Last Resort- Papa Roach)

-Run (Cum on feel the noise- Quiet Riot)

At the end of each song, coupons were counted. It pays to be a winner, and the partner from the losing team gave a piggyback or firemen style ‘ride’ to the winning partner from end line to end line.  Coupons were returned to the middle, rinse and repeat until 0600.

Circle of Trust

Our FNG was Yankee’s brother visiting from the east coast.  He is now F3’s Clam Pull. We lifted up prayers for the families of Noonan, Blart, Percy, Smokey, Wet Wipe, and all those that went unspoken.

CoT was brief as the rain started to come down during our Name O Rama.

Today’s motivation was from the book Natural Born Hero’s by Christopher McDougall. It’s both a history book and a fitness book, but talks about a Frenchmen named Georges Hebert, who developed a training method that turned navy recruits into Olympic level athletes. The secret? Move, run, swim, climb….play! We have never heard of it because Hebert did this in the early 1910’s.  His recruits were all killed in WWI, but the lesson can live one. Make our bodies useful. Today we rolled, crawled, ran, carried, and jumped. We had fun and made our bodies more useful. I’m thankful God gave us this day and each other. A prayer for those mentioned above was lifted up and we went about our day.

Naked Man Moleskin

Good times were had by all.  We beat the rain, had some laughs, and walked away unhurt.

Pizza the Hutt tried to cheat to win, but is a bad criminal and was quickly caught.  Hooch is a madman on the Bearcrawls, and Percy carried Dr. Ralph fireman style several times with ease.

Thanks to all that came out and got after it on a Monday Funday!
