Introduction

A year ago last week, I attended my first F3 workout, which was an unusually easy snow football workout at DT on a Saturday morning.  In honor of my one-year anniversary, and with the Super Bowl coming up on Sunday, I tried to recreate some of the football fun.  But the negative wind chills and the knee-deep snow in the grass meant I had to change things up a bit.  Away we went.

Warm-O-Rama

Started with some football-themed warm-up moves:

-15 Heisman hops

-15 three-point stance jacks

-High knees down and back

-Butt kickers down and back

-Karaoke down and back

-Shuffle steps down and back

The Thang

The workout was designed to see who is ready for the NFL by replicating the NFL Combine.  The answer? No one.  But we had fun, and I’d like to see the NFL guys do work on an icy parking lot.  Each event was a competition among the 7 PAX, with the winner picking 25 of his favorite moves.

3-cone drill (won by Smokey)

Mosey through the snow for 25 pull-ups

Broad jumps in the snow for max distance (won by Quarter Cart)

Mosey back for 25 Carolina dry docks

20-yard cone drill (won by Smokey)

25 dips

Max push-ups unbroken (in lieu of bench press) (won by Smokey)

25 table presses

40-yard dash (won by YHC… by one one-hundredth of a second. I think The Mullet gave me a friendly clock.)

25 SSH

The real victory is that no one fell on the ice.

Then we broke out some footballs to work on our route trees (which needed some work) – curls, outs, posts, and flies — before splitting into two teams with Quarter Cart as all-time QB for one of the worst touch football games you’ll ever see.

Finished with Mary:

-60-second plank hold

-20 American hammers

-15 plank jacks

-15 imperial walkers

Circle of Trust

There were a lot of numbers on the clock today.  We talked about letting numbers push you, but not define you.  For example, we’ve got a Super Bowl coming up between a 25-year-old QB and a 43-year-old QB.  If you’re a young guy, don’t let that limit you in becoming a leader.  Be inspired by Mahomes.  If you’re an older guy, don’t that limit you in continuing to be your best self.  Be inspired by Brady.  Keep pushing forward and defy the numbers, whatever they may be.

Naked Man Moleskin

Appreciate all PAX for coming out on such a nasty day and putting up with my inability to count movements after I used all my oxygen on my 40-yard dash.  Feeling is just now starting to return to my hand after running the timer all morning, so I’ve got that going for me.
