Introduction

Watching my kids get out and enjoy the warmer weather inspired me to put together a kid-themed workout, with some nasty F3 twists.  Think of it as “Adult Field Day.”  So we all brought a child-like sense of wonder and away we went…

Warm-O-Rama

Kept the warm-o-rama short and sweet…

-Motivators from 6

-15 Abe Vigodas

-15 tappy taps

-15 mountain climbers

Then we grabbed our coupons and moseyed over the hill to the race course…

The Thang

Pax divided into teams of five and took on a series of challenges:

  1.  Murder Bunny Relay – down and back (PAX hold squats while waiting their turn).  Winning team chose to run the hill while the losing team did burpees.
  2. Plank Leap Frog Relay.  Winning team chose to do merkins while the losing team ran the hill.
  3. Box Jump Relay – three times up and down the tower steps for each PAX (teammates did side straddle hops while waiting their turn.  Winning team chose to do more box jumps while the losing team ran the hill.
  4. Tunnel Crawl Relay – PAX created a tunnel in a high plank position and took turns crawling through to the finish line. Winning team chose to run the bridge loop while the losing team did pull-ups on the bridge.
  5. Broad Jump (“Sack Race”) Relay – down and back (PAX do Bonnie Blair’s while waiting their turn). Winning team chose to do burpees while the losing team ran the bridge loop.
  6. Wheelbarrow Relay – down and switch (PAX do coupon curls while waiting their turn).  All PAX did 30 burpees afterward.

We then had a spirited round of “Crabs and Bears,” aka Sharks and Minnows, but with the “sharks” doing crab walks and the minnows doing bear crawls.

We finished up our relay work by having all PAX work together — all shoulder-to-shoulder in plank position, we passed a coupon down and back three times.

We then headed back over the hill for a short Mary.

Mary was a round of “plank, duck, goose,” which mostly proved that PAX don’t really remember how to play duck, duck, goose.

Circle of Trust

Theme of today’s Circle of Trust was not taking life too seriously.  Like our kids, we need to remember to have fun and try new things.  Sometimes (like “plank, duck, goose”), they won’t really work.  But that’s okay.  Have fun and keep moving forward!

We renamed FNG-ish Ulf Larsson, who came out once before for Virtuosity and was given the name “IKEA,” before we realized someone else was already had that name.  So after some discussion of his Swedish heritage and love of pickled fish, he was deemed “lutefisk.”  (You can Google it.)

Naked Man Moleskin

Thanks to everyone for coming out, including visitor Turkey Leg from F3 Memphis! Was great to have Lutefisk out for his first in-person workout, and Amazon back for his second in-person workout after a long hiatus.  I hope everyone had as much fun with these crazy games as I did coming up with them!
