Introduction

Pulled into the parking lot and was like WTF, I am 20 minutes early and there are a dozen cars, Cones everywhere and a bunch of road barricades. It took me a minute but I realized BD was about to head out. Of they went and the parking lot really started to fill up. I was expecting around 10 guys based on looking at HC’s the night before. What a pleasant surprise to see 18 at Warm-o-rama.

Circle of Trust

In watching my kids hockey practice while I write up this workout I have been amazed at the varied levels of the different skaters. This clinic is for all skills levels within the 13-14 age group. There are AAA kids on the ice and there are house league kids on the ice. The AAA kids look so smooth, so polished so fast. Was I ever as good as these kids are at 14? Then I look at the other end and see stops and starts missed passes and sooo much slower. 

 

I think about how this might apply to me and the men of F3. How do I look when we are out here in the gloom. Do we look like a well oiled machine or like the other end of the ice? 

 

Then I realize that it does not matter how I look. It does not matter how fast I am or how pretty my Bonnie Blairs are. What matters is that I am here. I am running with men faster than me and that we are all getting better together. 

F3 talks about how you are either accelerating or decelerating. It has taken me a while to figure out what this means. It means you are either putting in the work to get better every day or you are not. Not every day can be a PR day or a max reps day but every day you can get better and they way you do that is through effort. Perseverance and putting in the work. 

 

The difference between my kid and the AAA kids is that my kid is just trying not to get called on and those kids want to be called on every time. They want to compete against the faster and better kids to make themselves better. I am not putting my kid down. He is out there to have fun and that is what he is doing. (I wish more kids and their parents could be okay with just doing sports because they are fun, I know I struggle with that)

What I am saying is if you want to get better you need to keep pushing yourself. You need to keep getting after it every day and don’t settle for Good Enough. 

So get out there have a great day and come back tomorrow so we can get better and keep accelerating together.

Naked Man Moleskin

As I logging writing this (A day late) I have just finished a Curds workout. I really did not want to do a curds workout but after this COT yesterday I felt I needed to. I am glad I did it was a killer but I definitely got better!!!
