Introduction
Question: Is it a Bike Club or a Ruck Club? Answer: BOTH!!!! We will go both ways just like @Blowfish did during his experimental phase. Come join me for what I believe is the first Bike+Ruck Club, and depending how it goes maybe the last. Planning to start promptly at 5:15am, arrive at 5:00am if you want to do some stretching with me ahead of time.
HC in the :thread: , bring your :bike:, your :ruck: (20-30lbs recommended).
Warm-O-Rama
Warmup and stretching to be done OYO prior to our 5:15 start.
The Thang
The original plan was to split into teams (2 or 3 maybe depending how many we have) and it’s a race. How many times can you make it from the parking lot of the complex to Knoch Knolls and back. At each end you have to take the ruck off and do 20 chest press with the ruck at Complex, and 20 curls at Knoch Knolls. Have chalk in the Complex lot for the teams to add a tick to their tally. In theory just on distance should be able to do about 7 or 8 times down and back in the timeframe I think but the ruck and the activity should slow that down and hoping the extra weight creates a bit more work on that incline back from Knoch Knolls.
The actual plan was that we just did it as a group instead of teams.
Circle of Trust
We did an AAR and the general consensus was that this was a good new experience. There were some great ideas to take this a bit further, vary up the routes. Maybe do a star pattern so that each leg on the bike is a different path away from the complex. Maybe do it as a large loop where there are pre-defined landmarks that you stop at to do work with the ruck, or just do a ride with the ruck. There does need to be a warning given to anyone new to trying this that it does adjust your center of gravity and how you are used to taking corners and such.
Naked Man Moleskin
Sparky was Site Q and I was Q, but in the end I ended up being the one bringing up the rear as this workout kicked my own butt. They say the Q should be able to do the workout, I’m not sure they say he has to do it the best, I think it was overall a great challenge and a way for me to push myself with cardio that I can’t do with running due to my plantar fasciitis issues.
