My high school’s football team is 9-0 and the #2 seed in the IHSA State Playoffs. This is the first time in the school’s history they have gone undefeated. When I went there some 20 years ago we were just the 4th team to make the playoffs in the schools history. I remember how big of a deal it was not just to our players, the coaches, and the school…but to the entire community.
It simply energized the community and was an awesome memory so I could only imagine the buzz in town right now.
This made me think…what does it take to be 9-0 in anything or better said, perfect, undefeated, at the top, etc???
One thing that comes to mind are actually all the little things.
To be 9-0 you don’t just show up and win games. You do all the little things, you have high standards and discipline and you have positive habits that you transfer into every single day. That’s how you get to 9-0.
I’m reminded that there’s a brick in the wall at Wauconda High School that reads “This is the Day – Wauconda Football 1999”. This brick is from our playoff team but the quote is what’s important.
The quote is from the Bible and it read in full as this:
“This is the day…that the lord has made…we will rejoice…and be glad in it.”
So, this is the day gentlemen. Like every day, to do all the little things, to do your best to be 9-0, to do the right things to be a High Impact Man. Do this and be glad in it.
Go get it.
Prayers.

Yes Uncle Rico…thanks for the reminder that 9-0 doesn’t mean a thing unless you get the ring!
