Introduction

Despite a mega beatdown on the arms from IPC Wednesday, we asked everyone to bring their coupons…they did…and we stacked them in two columns at the flags as a tribute to the Twin Towers that went down on 9.11.01.

Today was special.

Warm-O-Rama

After quick disclaimer we mosey’d over to the NE corner of the far parking lot for warmarama…disruption had begun…

We started with some Teresa via IT Band stretches, Lunge Stretches then to some Finkles, Arm Circles and Side Straddle Hops…

The Thang

Today was all about disruption. There was no direction other than we would dedicate 110 reps or 110 seconds to several exercises as we climbed the Twin Towers of disruption into the darkness heading east.

We started with 10 Burpees in the parking lot to buy in…

Then started a run along the pond, zig zagging through the broken fence…dark…no direction…just moving as a unit together.

Then…of first quick stop in the field after the fence…

#1 Disruption = 110 LBC’s

Mosey under the broken wooden fence by the pond. Each PAX picked up rocks by the pond

#2 Disruption = 110 T’s & Y’s

We did shoulder raises with the rocks in hand forming 55 T’s and 55 Y’s. Bob Ross stared where he was on 9/11, running a car dealership…Blart followed discussing how he was stationed in Okinawa as a marine, and FakeID shared how he was 10 years old in elementary school watching from a TV all the teachers had brought in and Blues Clues shared how he was a sophomore in college and while classes were canceled, they still had a surreal baseball practice later that day…it was a moment for all the PAX to share this common bond of an experience.

We mosey’d back under the broken wooden fence…more critters jumped in the pond as we moved.

#3 Disruption = 110 Uphill Walking Lunges

We moved to the base of the small hill and did walking lunge sets up the hill until 110 was hit.

#4 Disruption = 110 Seconds of Uphill Bear Crawls

We stayed at the foot of the hill and did Bear Crawls up and down for 110 seconds. It was slick out. Footing took a bit extra on the way down.

We then mosey’d thru more darkness to the far Eastside parking lot near the basketball courts.

#5 Disruption = 110 J-Lo’s

We circled up and did J-Lo side bends until the six. We stayed together this whole time, SSH’s to the six with each disruption. Some said they never did these before. Good.

We then mosey’d to the actual basketball courts.

#6 Disruption = 110 Second Baseline Sprints

PAX lined up on the baseline and we did baseline to baseline sprints for 110 seconds. Heart rate hit a high.

#7 Disruption = Twin Tower Run

We formed two lines and did a Twin Tower version of the Indian Run, heading back West along the path, getting our sprints and run in together.

Once we hit the parking lot, we did an AYG to the flags.

#8 Disruption = 110 Merkins

With 3 minutes left we maxed out 110 Merkins at the flags and Twin Tower of coupons we had built. Some finished, some did not. Most importantly, NOBODY GAVE UP.

6:00am Recover, Recover…

Circle of Trust

It’s not about finishing…it’s about not giving up…

NEVER FORGET

Anyone been to the 9/11 Memorial in NY? (Some PAX raised their hands.) I’ve had the opportunity to visit Pearl Harbor and as an American, that hit me hard…until I got to the 9/11 Memorial in NY. There’s nothing like it. And if you have the chance to go, go.

So, let’s all go back to that day for bit…9/11/01…think about where you were…

Think of those people that woke up and went to work…who would never see their family again. Think of those people who were at work and saw no other option but to jump from a burning building or decided to fight for their life aboard an airplane that just happened to be highjacked by terrorists. And think of those first responders, who risked their life and all that they had to save whoever they could.

Think about them…work to feel what that must been like and…

NEVER  FORGET

The 9/11 Memorial. I’ve never been to a public place that had so many people walking through it, yet was so somber, so surreal, and so quiet that all you could hear were the drops of falling tears echoing off the ground.

That lone sound…it will forever stick with me.

NEVER FORGET

And lastly, while these are not happy memories, it’s important to recognize the sacrifice so many people make to give us the privileges and opportunities we have in this great country today. It’s ok to feel happy and grateful today because you are alive and YOU have an opportunity not just to finish your next job today, but to never give up.

NEVER FORGET

I’ll leave you with this…this a large mural at the 9/11 Memorial with a quote from Virgil that reads as this “No Day Shall Erase You From The Memory Of Time”

You have your time today men. And no day shall erase whatever you do with it.

Choose wisely.

And make the most impactful memories with the time you have.

NEVER FORGET

(Moment of Silence for 19 Seconds for 19 years That Have Passed Since 9/11/01)

Prayers…

Naked Man Moleskin

We dedicated today’s workout and our time to all things remembered from 9/11/01. Respect.

PAX continued their time giving back to the local park district. It was great to see the 18 PAX we had at the AO turned in to many more from other AO’s to help clean up the park. This is America. This is F3. Aye.
