Introduction
Week start off with a Tornado tearing through your neighborhood?
Only get better with each of the 12 Urkel preblasts asking someone to run some horse trail with him?
You know the cure: Saturday’s at The Complex. Fun and games.
Bring a white and black shirt. We might even burn a few calories as we’re messing around.
Warm-O-Rama
Circled up in the parking lot. Gave the core principals, made sure all PAX had a white and black shirt, and moseyed down to the Ultimate Football Field that was set up.
Upon arrival, all PAX were told they are grown men and to take 3 minutes to stretch out while the Thang of the day was explained.
The Thang
The Thang: Ultimate Football. Rules of ultimate frisbee but using a football. @@ and our Sleeveless Nan’Tan were told they were captains and began picking teams. Team @@ was black shirts, Team Baby’Tan was white shirts.
After falling into an early 5-2 hole, team @@ came clawing back and kept it a one score game throughout. FNG TBD got to breathing so hard he had to take off his bug mask. TC Site Q Nair was all over the place on D for Team Baby’Tan. Young gun and Number 1 overall draft pick Baby Wipes was flying all the field for Team @@.
The rain held about 6:40, after which the slipping and sliding began.
Large Marge gave both ACL’s and the two discs in his back that still work to the cause for team Baby’Tan, but in the end, Smalls, Turner, and the rest of Team @@ pulled out the W in a 13-11 rain soaked slugfest.
We cleaned up the cones and moseyed to the pavilion for Name o Rama.
Circle of Trust
Prayers were lifted up for the fathers of our FNG TBD, Columbus, and Smalls and for family members going through health struggles.
COT: My week started out by working till 4am for the Plainfield tornado, then coming home to find the Naperville tornado had gone down my street. Three homes/cars on the street were roughed up, and plenty of trees were shredded, but no one was hurt. I can’t begin to tell everyone the thanks I feel and how God was looking out for everyone. That my family got out of the event with some downed trees and limbs was a blessing I would take every day of the week. The thanks continued when multiple friends/neighbors (and PAX) showed up uninvited with chainsaws and were cleaning up my yard before I got home from work. All over the neighborhood, people rallied towards each other. It was amazing and humbling to be a part of. We all have our struggles, but it reminded me that when it comes down to it, this community (Naperville, F3, your neighborhood) can make all the difference.
Ended with a prayer of thanksgiving and asking God to watch over all of those spoken and unspoken prayers.
Naked Man Moleskin
We did exactly nothing in cadence. Not one merkin or burpee was performed.
But man- the PAX had a good time and got a good lung burn too!
Different color shirts was big on avoiding the “who’s on my team again?”
We had a lot of great plays, and a lot of just ugly plays. The PAX walked away unhurt (well…large marge limped away, and Wine In A Box hurt his shoulder for the 17th time…but those were preexisting).
Most importantly- the fellowship was strong and it was a great start to a rainy Saturday.
