Introduction

Have you heard of these vaunted Black Diamond Run Clubs and their legendary 5 minute/mile Indian Runs? Have you been spooked off from such tales and lore? YHC is here to tell you there will be none of those tomorrow @ Two Wolves. No man will be left behind and there will ALSO be an opportunity for 60 minutes to go and chase and push as hard and fast as you can. If you’re on the fence, time to disrupt your normal morning routine and get UNCOMFORTABLE!!If you’ve already HC’d elsewhere I’m sure that Q will understand this significant life decision you need to make . This is not about needing more HC’s at  – this is just a little memo about looking at that man in the mirror and getting after something spooky and scary and overcoming a challenge to yourself. And letting you know you’ll make it.Aye!

Warm-O-Rama

Nearly all PAX had a weighted vest on this morning, ranging from 15/20 lbs up to Blinky who was rucking 55 POOOOUUUUUUUNDS in his vest. God Bless!

Pax were Welcomed and Disclaimed and we took off for a quick Capri Lap. Circled up eventually for Good Morning’s IC x 11 + Mountain Climbers IC x 20 + Imperial Walkers IC x 15. Off we went.

The Thang

Pax gathered over by the obstacle course course that is near the base of the stairs and accompanying pathway. Identified that spot as Start/Finish. Instructions were provided: Run up the stairs and back down the pathway to the Start/Finish and complete 1 Burpee. Reverse direction and run back up the pathway and down the stairs to S/F and complete 2 burpees. Back up the stairs and down the path and 3 burpees. And on and on and on up to 15 Burpees. Total mileage covered = 3+ miles. Total Burpees = 120. Total steps climbed = 280. This took a little longer than planned but YHC did not bail and saw it all the way through for all to complete.

Once done, the PAX headed over to the soccer fields that is surrounded by a big rectangle path. We simply ran that loop a few times just to keep logging some miles.

After at least 2 laps time was drawing to a close so YHC had all gather over on the field at the base of the big grass hill. We stormed the hill, headed down the stairs, and back to the parking lot for Mary.

Circle of Trust

YHC re-shared the 5 Core Principles of F3 (Free, Open to All Men, Held Outdoors Rain or Shine, Led in a Peer-led Rotating Fashion, and ends in a Circle of Trust), and then the Mission of F3 (to Plant, Grow, and Serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of Male Community Leadership), and finally the Credo (leave no Man behind, but leave no Man where you found Him) and focused there for just a few minutes.

“leave no Man behind” – to me, this goes to the importance of EH’ing and looking to introduce as many Men as possible to F3. There is something mystical about this whole F3 thing. Hearing the stories of men who find their way to a workout and then slowly (or quickly sometimes) becoming invigorated men and husbands and brothers and leaders is fascinating. While F3 may not be for every man at any given time, it continues to prove that it’s at least worth sharing its story to as many as possible to ensure that no man gets left behind in Sad Clown hell.

“leave no man where you found Him” – once a man has been brought into the fold of F3 it still remains the responsibility of the Pax to keep pushing and accelerating and growing – both themselves as well as others. Plenty of guys may have wanted to quit this morning. It was not a standard run club where we just went out and stretched the legs and logged some miles. Weighted vests…stairs and ramps…lots of burpees…routines and expectations of a Black Diamond Run Club were perhaps disrupted. #Disruption makes people uncomfortable and discomfort is a catalyst for growth. There’s books written about that exact thing. So this morning we got uncomfortable. Our plan for the morning was perhaps disrupted a little. All YHC knows is that NO MAN WAS LEFT BEHIND the entire morning and more than a few of the Men were not left where we found them during Warm-O-Rama. That was an awesome morning with all these badass dudes.

Love,

Uncle Rico

Afterwards, Ball Boy told me the format sucked but he also didn’t initiate an AAR so he owes someone 50 burpees, so what sucks now?

Blinky’s 55# weighted vest blew some minds. That guy won our 5K and can scoot with the best of the Pax. When YHC saw him sort of middle of the pack all morning I figured he had either already run a half-marathon EC or just wasn’t feeling the mojo this morning. 55 pounds!

The PAX that come out to Black Diamond’s are beasts. Whether they started as beasts at their first BD, dunno. Would love to see more Pax come out and experience these challenging workouts. No one is truly left behind the majority of the time and if it gets dicey our Site-Q’s do a fantastic job. #GetSome

Serena was complaining about being sore. He smoked everyone during Thang 1 so I guess I wish I could be as “sore” as he was someday.

Trailer Park’s shoes and socks got wet at the very end hill run and, while I technically told him they wouldn’t in the pre-blast, I somehow mistook him for someone else all morning so I cannot actually apologize.
