Introduction

Oooh man. Coming back to the original FNG launch pad for YHC. Surprisingly, I think this may be my first or second time Qing at HH… almost two years in. The Shame.

Regardless I was excited to bring some truly sucky exercises utilizing coupons and the hill. Got some really evil ideas from Bartles & Jaymes and decided to put it to work.

I was hopeful I could impress the likes of Lewinsky and Dilly Dilly, while earning the spite of others who sadly didn’t know what they were getting into.

Perfect weather. Let’s do this.

Warm-O-Rama

Simple enough. Good Mornings, Imperial Squats (squat in between each leg of an imperial walker), Grady Corns, and SSH. Then the fun began.

The Thang

Thang 1:

Who doesn’t love 11s? No one. Who doesn’t love doing the same exercise on both sides of an 11? No one. Who hates doing blockees on both ends and Cusak Lunging (that’s holding coupon high overhead and lunge walking) in between? HH Gregg. That’s who. I’m pretty sure about it given the noises of stress and suffering coming from my right.  Maybe Hamburglar chose the wrong day to get back into F3 too (But we’re seriously glad you came back bro – been WAY too long!!).

But yeah, 11s. Blockees on both sides. Cusak Lunge in between roughly 20 yds (four parking lot spaces). I knew when I glanced over to see Dilly Dilly bent over, hands on knees, sucking in big breathes of air about halfway through that I chose wisely.

Not sure how Sparkler, John Denver, CVS, Thumbdrive, or Hot Lips felt about it. I couldn’t really tell through all the grunting, swearing under the breathe, and hard breathing. Tommy most likely was wondering why he agreed to a YHC Q with a bum Achilles (hope you get better soon bro!).

In the end, everyone I think finished or got close to it, or did finish but only cause they mis-counted. Doesn’t matter. That sucked. On to thang 2.

Thang 2:

Woowee….yeah. I was excited for this one. If only to see if we could pull it off. Pulled this straight from the Hill at Outpost via Bartles & Jaymes, thank you very much. Crawl Bear up the HUGE HOLY HILL, 20 burpees at the top, then run down, 20 burpees at the bottom. Bernie Sanders up, 20 at the top…. rinse and repeat.

We cut a little early to make Mary.

If you’re keeping track, you accomplished 110 Blockees in Thang 1 (if you finished the 11s) and if you made it up the hill a second time and did the burpees at top, throw on another 60 burpees. Doesn’t sound like a lot right? I know. Sneaky hard that is right there.

Mary:

200 LBCs. That’s it.

Perseverance. Persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.

We tend to honor those who persevere. It’s an admired trait, worthy of respect. Those who persevere have one thing in common: they believe in the outcome.

Insanity. Extreme foolishness or irrationality. It would be easy for some to confuse perseverance with insanity. After all, it is doing something considered foolish. Who likes to get up at 4:30am to exercise outside in subzero temperatures? Yet insanity doesn’t necessarily require belief in an outcome. Doing something foolish for the sake of foolishness is insane.

Perseverance, however, is anchored and driven by a profound belief in the reason for the persistence. There’s no point to being persistent unless one is absolutely sure of achieving success.

This means that we can’t call it persevering unless we have belief. It is the root, the source, the founding purpose of why we take that first step.

Exercise is a great model of what perseverance looks like. You exercise, you stick with it, you gain. We believe in the outcome.

Think about all the things you are persevering through today. And evaluate: Do you have that central belief in the outcome? That core purpose and determined grip on the outcome you are set it to achieve?

Ensure that belief is worthy of the work. Then you’ll find the perseverance becomes the process that makes us better.

Naked Man Moleskin

This was a fun Q to put together. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve Q’d. I had once set a goal to hit 100 by EOY… but then the pandemic hit and it became WAY more important to lead our PAX in simply having a way to post and achieve virtual proximity than keeping track of my own stats. The Qsheet has a number – I know it’s wrong. But I’m glad it is. It keeps me focused on the reason for doing this. Sure – having goals is REALLY important. But having purpose must come first. My purpose is you all. It’s F3. It has been a saving grace when work and family challenges arise. I am humbled to serve you all in the capacity of CommzQ right now. Can’t wait to ride out the rest of year with my brothers.
