Introduction

One of my 2021 goals is to involve jump ropes in all of my Q’s this year. Today that journey begins.  Thankful for a few PAX that brought extra ropes for those lazy souls that still don’t have one! To kick $hit up, a few of us donned weighted vests as well. Boxcutter had one. Toadstool and Rudy had one. YHC had one as well. For those that have been around for awhile it’s time to LEVEL UP and some extra weight for a bootcamp is a perfect way to get out of the comfort zone and Accelerate. Let’s roll!

Got out to the OP early to run out some lights and cones on the path that leads to the far playground. Quarter Cart pulled in as I was headed out and did a double take to ensure it wasn’t the Parks Dept or the 5-0 because his truck looks like it could tow an 18-wheeler. Good2go!

Warm-O-Rama

Welcoming remarks were made. Disclaimer was narrated. 8-count Body Builders (IC) ensued. We did 10 of those together and the morning was off to a sweet start. Moved into some Imperial Walkers (IC) x 10 and Good Morning’s (IC) x 10 to even out the Body Builders and off we went into the Thangs.

The Thang

Thang 1:

5 Burpees + 50 Single Jump Ropes + Lap around the lot (approx 1/4 mile)

10 Burpees + 100 Single Jump Ropes + Lap around the lot (approx 1/4 mile)

15 Burpees + 150 Single Jump Ropes + Lap around the lot (approx 1/4 mile)

20 Burpees + 200 Single Jump Ropes + Lap around the lot (approx 1/4 mile)

When done, start on 1 Burpee + 10 Single Jump Ropes…2 + 20…3 + 30…for the 6.

Thang 2: Red Barchetta

There were 4 lights spaced out on the path from the lot to the far playground. First, we’d run to the farthest light (about 0.4 mile) and do 100 4-ct Mountain Climbers. This sucked. When done, run back to the lot. Then run to the 3rd light (2nd farthest) light and do 75 Air Squats. Run back. This is where time became the issue. We did not get to the 2nd light with 50 Lunges (the Hard Way) or the 1st light with 25 Foxholes.

All ran back to the Flags for Mary, which was 10 more 8-count Body Builders IC and then World War 1 sit-ups til 0600 (ended up doing 31).

Recover Recover at 0600.

Circle of Trust

The world is full of cliches and memes and “motivational” statements that we’ve all heard a hundred times over. Sometimes we come across one that for some reason is worded a certain way that resonates with us. For me, this was a few days ago when I came across the line “What other people think of me is none of my business.”

I struggle with the vanity of life and the comparison to others and the, speaking of cliches, “keeping up with the Jones’s.” I know it, I preach against it, but still something that’s part of my mental game. Asking myself silently way too often, “what will that person think of me?” It comes out in what I wear, how I act, and probably unconsciously more than I’d care to know. But the idea of thinking that it’s actually “none of my business” to be concerned with others think of me was a new way of thinking about this struggle.

Granted, there are going to be times that it IS part of my business what others think of me – in work situations, as a Q (AAR!), etc. But by and large what others think of me should not be something I spend time picking my fingernails or having any sort of anxiety over. Chances are, what I worry myself about has nothing to do with what the other person/people are even considering or consciously aware of. It’s a journey men, and I am jealous of those I see in my life that are able to abide by this mantra. I am not sure if they do it naturally, or if they have to work on it, but it’s something I will continue to work on and will get better at.

Keep learning. About yourself and about each other. And Level Up and kick some ass today!

Naked Man Moleskin

I knew I needed to run out and collect all the lights and buckets before heading to coffeeteria. Roach Coach, Captain Underpants, Boxcutter, and Leuben decided they’d head back out to the Red Barchetta course and finish what was left incomplete due to time. So I got roped in to doing all those extra exercises too. Do hard things. Stay tough. TClaps to those dudes for the EC werk!
