Introduction

🏃🥇Outpost Preblast Tues 8/24 – F3 5k training🥇🏃

@channel

Now that you have signed up for the F3 5k👀 it’s time to set a benchmark for yourself and see how much time you can drop by race day.  Come out to the OP tomorrow for some prep work and then we’ll do a 5k course to get a “before” 5k time.  All paces welcome.  HC in 🧵

LFG-R (running)

Warm-O-Rama

SSH x20 IC

Finkle swings x12 IC

Hip openers x12 IC

Short mozy to Cedar Glade Dr. and back to flags to loosen up, side shuffles, skips, backwards, etc.

The Thang

THANG 1 – 5kstarted at 5.25 at corner of parking lot

Out-and-back to Naperville Plainfield Rd. almost exactly 1.6mi out.  Was super muggy out this morning, made it really hard to run in and I admittedly went a lot slower than I thought I would I think because of that.  Also, just need to run more :o)

Mary

x20 Freddie merc’s IC

x20 Mountain climbers IC

Stargazers for 1min

Waited for 6 to get in.  Thanks to Tang, Parks N Rec and others for having our six.  My fault for not leaving adequate time for everyone to get back.  Note to self for next time.

So yesterday a pigeon landed outside on our patio right as we were eating dinner.  I went out to shoo it away but it wasn’t scared of me.  I brought my dog out and the dog ended up being more scared of the pigeon than the pigeon was of her.  I looked it up because it had collars around its feet and it turns out it’s a racing pigeon.  People keep this type of pigeon and release them for sport and they return home.  Depending on how fast they cover a set distance determines winners.  I offered the bird food and water, he drank and ate a ton immediately and he slept under a bush for maybe an hour.  Then I came back and he was gone.  I read pigeons like this can cover 600mi at a time and fly up to 80mph.

I don’t know that I have a great parallel to people or piece of wisdom on this one.  I just think sometimes its awesome to observe the world around us and appreciate what God has created.  I think running always provides an opportunity to get out and appreciate this world god has made, just to get out and enjoy nature, like this morning looking at the sunrise as we headed east on our run.  Hopefully you’ve all signed up for the F3 5k, i think it’ll be a fun day and now you have a benchmark time where you can work to improve that over the next few weeks.  At the very least, get out, do some running and encounter nature and what God has made and it’s beauty.  You always see new things when you go running outside.  So keep coming out, keeping running, and let’s go crush this F3 5k in a few weeks.
