Introduction

It was a beautiful morning as the garage opened up & the birds were singing their songs.  Did a little EC by pulling the trash cans to the curb before the PAX started to dial in.  We waited a minute for Mrs. Doubtfire to finish his lunch since you know…it is lunch time in Germany!!!  I quickly gave the disclaimer before we dove in to the beat down of the day.

Naked Man Moleskin

CoT:

As we approach this special weekend for many of us I thought it was important to expand on the meaning of Fathers Day b/c it is just not about your blood relatives.  If you look up Father in Webster’s dictionary it can be defined as a verb:

  1. To accept responsibility for
    1. Some of you may have heard me talk about the fact the fact I have lost my Father (actually 25 years this June 30th) through those impressionable years of my life there were several male mentors (friends, coaches, etc.) that accepted responsibility for me & guided me. People in this group like BR who challenged me early on in the BP parking lot to step up & lead or Mrs. Doubtfire who pushed me not to quit on one snowy morning at the bottom of the hill at BP. This weekend we should be thankful & reach out to those people that maybe were not Fathers to us but Father figures who helped mold us.
  2. To be the founder, author, or producer of
    1. This is what I would call “pay it forward”. We all have the opportunity as male Father figures to be that author or producer of some young individuals life weather that is blood or not blood.  I encourage you to reach out to those that may need a Father figure & be that light for them.

Dear lord, the Great FATHER, thank you for this opportunity to wake up early in the gloom & experience your greatness.  We are humbled for the opportunity you give us every day to be in your glory & serve you as leaders & FATHER figures in our communities.  Watch over those in our spoken prayers as well as those that are in our hearts that are not as fortunate as many of us & give them healing & strength in their struggles.  In your name we pray.  Amen!
