Introduction

Please kindly consider this your formal invitation to join YHC at Iron Lion tomorrow.  Please kindly bring your coupon and drop your HC below.  Remember kids, it’s a jungle out there.  No worries, your Auntie Ronda will make sure to take good care of you.

Pulled into IL to see the BD crew getting organized.  Said a silent prayer for them all and a special blessing for Patchouli for his VQ.

I got done setting up cones from the 10-50yd line for my Thangs and sat in my car by Lisle HS after to synch my phone up with my speaker.  Sulley rolled in and asked if I needed any help and I told him I was good.  He went to set up the flags and I spent a little time clearing my head.

The Thang

I asked everyone to find a pull up buddy.  Someone the same size and build as them and then to form two lines.  We farmer carried our coupons to the far end of the Lisle HS football field alternating hands along the way.

Thang 1

Each exercise was followed up by 5 pull ups sans the first round.  Everyone else did hydraulics until the 6 and his partner were done until moving on down the field.  We did walking Riunite Wine Mixers to every yard marker and started from the end zone every time.  We did a walking coupon baby carry back after the last rep was complete from each maker.

10yd – 5 Ebenezer Penny Pinchers each arm.

20yd – 20 single arm coupon curls each arm.

30yd – 30 single arm coupon press each arm.

40yd – 40 curls.  Thighs to chest.  No cheating.

50yd – LBC’s IC

Thang 2

Down the field this time to each marker.  No pull ups in between.

10yd – 10 x finger tip merkins on my count.

20yd – 20 x body weight squats on my count.

30yd – 20 x hand release merkins on my count.

40yd – 40 x body weight squats on my count.

50yd – 10 x finger tip merkins on my count.

Sprint back to the goal line.

Thang 3

Last of the pull ups.  Asked to see who could knock out five unassisted reps.   I then asked the rest of the PAX to fall in and complete their sets.  We farmer carried our coupons back to the AO alternating hands along the way.

Was transitioning to flutter kicks when Sulley called time.  Actually, screamed time.  I think Glass Joe threw something at him.

Circle of Trust

I would like to thank all of you for joining me ITG this morning.  The workouts are free, but there is a cost involved for everyone and I hope I made good on that bill today.  I recently starting watching a show on Netflix called “Formula 1 : Drive to Survive”.  The program was recommended to me from a racing friend.  I’m not a big TV guy, but I instantly fell in love with the show.

While watching the second episode, I started to ponder the similarities between racing and life.  When I was in my early 20’s, I attended a racing school at Road America in Elkhart, Wi.  I met a surly, no BS retired ARCA/NASCAR driver by the name of Duck Waddle at that track that day.  Duck was one of my driving instructors and was certainly the most candid and biggest presence among all of the drivers present.  I was in the driver’s seat of a brand new Dodge Viper when Duck smacked me on the back of my racing helmet after my first autocross lap.  Duck told me I was not using my eyes.  He was right.  My braking was early, my corner entry sucked, I was missing the apex, lacked power, and was simply all over the place.  Duck explained to me after my first session as we exited the car that racing was exactly like life.  “Son, your hands, mind and body will instinctively follow your eyes.  This is true even if they are closed.  Want to avoid a wreck?  Let your eyes steer you somewhere else.  I was missing my “marks” at every turn and he was right.  Duck was not just talking about racing.  He was most certainly talking about life.  You see, if we focus on the wrong things in life, we will run into them regardless of our intentions.  Even, if our eyes are closed.  My challenge for all of you today is to hit your marks and get on the throttle.  Doing so will most certainly keep you on the correct path.

Nacho did not pick the right day to use a Big Boy coupon, but he was still the first to knock out 5 unassisted pull ups at the end.  There was a reason we were partners today brother.  Thanks for always being my form police.

Mr. Belding and Urban Cowboy must have cross over dribbles that rival the likes of MJ, because they were so fluid during the walking Riunite Wine Mixers it was sickening.

Bootlegger taking about taking out old clothes and asking who the fat guy was that used to wear that crap was definitely a highlight.

Glass Joe loved my jams and immediately and got into quite the rhythm.  You’re a different dude and have another gear when you want to hit the clutch.  Drop that clutch Joe!!

Baywatch crushed it and almost blew a hammy on the last 50 giving it his all.  Crisis averted.

I’m not sure, but I think Mr. Nice Guy and Moonlight shop at the same store at this point.  Watch recent NOR’s and you’ll get my point.  Jokes are funnier when you explain them and I love them both.

My bro-in-law Dawg is back!  You have nothing but my love and support.

Sputnik, you just work.  All.  The.  Time.  You’re on a roll and that Q sheet is calling again.

Sulley, I was kind of hoping you’d notice, but I tried to dress like you today.  I usually do not wear leggings, but I have nothing but respect for you and thought it might be a nice touch.  You’re the best in the business and a wonderful human being.

Ticker Tape and Bear Spray…..what the hell?  Good grief.  I know I’ve been absent a bit at IL, but way to bring it today.
