Introduction

Saturdays are for fun.  A good workout was promised, but those seeking a high octane, kick in the pants that will leave you hurting for days….should head elsewhere. It was also teased out that several long lost PAX would make an appearance.

Weather was ideal. High 30’s with clear sky’s and no wind.

20 PAX made it out. We circled up and hit it at 0615.

Warm-O-Rama

Warm up mosey. Walking lunges, bounders, straight leg zombie walks to loosen up the body.

Palm up shoulder rotation & presses, downward dog alternating heel presses, and kneeling T spine rotations finished off our warmup.

The Thang

Thang 1: Jiu Jitsu movement introductions.

-Waterfall is leading a series of Jiu Jitsu Q’s next month. Some common movements in BJJ are technical, so we started practicing the movements so Waterfall can get into more fun things next month.

Movements demonstrated & practiced: Hip escapes (shrimping), bridges, & triangles. 20 reps each.

Thang 2: Grab coupons and moseyed to the fields for Capture the Coupon.

Pax were divided into 2 even* teams.  PAX lined up coupons midfield & went to their respective starting lines.  Rules: Each round, PAX given a movement to perform to get to the coupons. Once you get to the coupons, take one back to your side. Use the movement to get to the coupons, then run back to your starting line with it. Continue until the song playing ends.

Round 1: Movement- Hip Escapes. Winning team (Team Onions/Bjorn) ran up the hill 5x.  Losing team (Team Muggsy) Bernie Sander’s up the hill 5x.

Round 2: Crawl Bear. Winning team (Team Muggsy) 20 picnic table thrusters. Losing Team (Team Onions)- wall sits watching the winners lift.

Round 3: Zombie Crawl or Army crawl. Winning team (Muggsy) 30 curls. Losing team (Team Bjorn) 30 bridges.

Round 4: Chimp walk. Winning team (do I need to even say it anymore?) 30 dips on the coupon. Losing team, 30 triangles.

Circle of Trust

Circled up, counted up, and waited for Dr. Ralph’s glasses to un-fog before announcements and NOR.

CoT. Thank you to everyone for coming out. The Apple Watch said it was over a 550 calorie burn, so I apologize for a the work being a bit more intense than marketed. Special props given to Rooney and Smalls for having the courage to get back ITG after a little layoff. Enjoy the day, enjoy the weekend, and let’s hear Dr. Ralph lift up a prayer and have some Coffee.

Naked Man Moleskin

Smalls and Rooney made their glorious return to the gloom.  Smalls was the first PAX to show up. He’s not fully vaccinated yet, so we talked neck gator masks, and I assured him almost all PAX are great about respecting each other’s space.

Wet Wipe was the second PAX to show up….and gave Smalls an involuntary bear hug.  Poor Smalls.  Wet Wipe later wrestled with Smalls during capture the coupon.  Sorry Smalls….no one can control our 1st F leader.

Rooney returned to the gloom and was unmolested by our 1st F leader.

Muggsy EC ran to the EC run, did the workout, then EC ran home. Wildman. Not as wild as Wide Right showing up after crushing beers all night Friday, but still wild.

The EC run crew was 4 or 5 deep.  Bjorn, Bongo, Muggsy, and AtAt. Strong work on a weekend.

Onions and his band of merry men (Crabgrass and Powderpuff) made the trip east.

During the warm up, it was clear Onions and Bjorn are either incapable or unwilling to Bound…they only skip.  That’s all fine and good.  They didn’t start drawing attention till they started holding hands whilst skipping

*Bongo pointed out that during round 1 of capture the coupon, the teams were 11 – 9, thus the results were lopsided.  After teams were divided 10-10 players, every round was very competitive.

I love Dr. Ralph’s prayers. He has a passion that you don’t find everywhere.  He also addresses God in every sentence “just to make sure he’s listening…I mean, he’s got alot going on!”  Great stuff to start the weekend!
