Introduction

Sent out the preblast and got a bunch of guys from Church to HC first, them and Dingo (Site Q). Was starting to worry we’d turn Dingo Catholic but then the HCs started rolling in and we ended up with a nice ecumenical mix.

Colder weather but not too windy so I chose to put us on top of the Muni garage rather than inside it.

There was a nice crew of 5 out for a little EC run. EHed Sarah Palin to get out in the pre-dawn gloom and I think one or two PAX threw on a weight vest. Nice work. I joined for the first half but split to grab my speaker which was still charging in my bedroom. Report back from the M is I snuck in undetected and did not disturb any sleep. Success. I’m a ninja like that.

Warm-O-Rama

Abe Vigodas x 14, Arm Circles x 14 each front/back, 21 SSH in cadence.

Grab coupon, and mosey to the muni garage, top deck. I hade coupon moseys, so we did that.

The Thang

Split up into 5 groups (we had 12 PAX so it was 2 or 3 each). I Set up 5 stations around 5 islands in the top deck of the muni garage. Each station was 4 corners with the same exercise at 2 of the corners, basically a 2-exercise rotation. Spend 4-6 minutes at each station, repeating the 4 corners until Q calls to rotate.

Station 1 (NO Coupon): 10 Step Ups // 40 Shoulder Taps

Station 2 (Coupons): 20 Chest Press // 10 Overhead Press

Station 3 (Coupons): 20 Upright Rows // 20 Dips (Bench or Coupon)

Station 4 (Coupons): 10 Coupon Step Ups with OH Press // 30 Curls

Station 5 (NO Coupons): 10 Step Ups // 10 Merkins

Mosey back to parking lot for Mary & COT

Mary: 2 Circles of Death: (1) 5 Monkey Humpers each while Pax remain in ready position, (2) 5 Merkins each while Pax remain in plank position. 30 or so LBCs, 25 (i think) flutter kicks, and then American Hammers til 6 (i think we got about 20 4-count AHs in)

Circle of Trust

At the beginning of the year I had committed to 10 Qs and realized as October hit that I had only made good on 4 of them! So I did what any hot-blooded American man in his right mind would do. I got my ass on the Q sheet for 6 more Qs. Today was the 3rd of the 6 I signed up for, my 7th Q. Lucky #7

Not sure why I put “Lucky #7” in the pre-blast, but it served up the COT for me. I like luck. Fun to get lucky. Yes, fun to get lucky, but also just nice to catch a break. You know? I’ve heard it said, “you make your own luck”. What does this mean? To me, it means hard work. It means putting yourself out there and doing things that are uncomfortable because they are preparatory. They are getting you ready for the unexpected. When the unexpected comes, the things you have done that prepared you for that moment will come in handy. To others (and maybe yourself) good fortune will appear as just that. But maybe doing what you didn’t want to do at some point in the past prepared you for that moment.

God’s providence is what we’re really talking about with all that luck stuff. SkyQ has given us all gifts with which we can excel and succeed in what we set out to do. We also have the gift of will. The will that allows us to put ourselves in uncomfortable situations for the betterment of ourselves, eventually, and probably those around us as well.

Threw out some prayers for Serena’s sister and Glenn’s M and said an Our Father.

Naked Man Moleskin

Nice to get 12 PAX out there. Really cool to see a crew made up of many who are relatively new to F3. Would have loved to have 4 or 5 in each group (I think the 1:1 mumblechatter slowed down some of the gains – cough – cupcake and shandy – cough // I know I know modify as needed // but seriously // cough – damn this cough – I swear it’s not COVID) but we made do with the lower #s and got some good work in.

Was originally going to base the workouts around the planters closer to the City Hall but noticed they were Black Diamond height, so I took it easier on the PAX for the step-up workouts. Ummm they were still pretty legit. Of course the 6’3″ dude (Sarah Palin) was the one who suggested this part of the workout. Putt Putt and I were really getting after it with our short boy legs tryna get up there.

Generally super happy to get the workout in and I think this is one that is worth repeating at some point. Got good positive feedback from the team and had different PAX mention different sore muscle groups later that day, which means the goal of full-body beatdown was largely achieved. I like (and probably will keep doing) workouts where the only equipment you need is gloves and coupon (or less). I know a lot of Qs mix it up with equipment, sang bags, cones, etc. etc. — (a) I don’t have that shit and (b) simple is good, right? Feeling a bit of internal pressure to keep mixing it up which I think I am, but I wanna do it in a way that keeps us to our base F3 equipment. Gonna keep doing that.

AAR welcome!
