Introduction

The forecast tomorrow might include rain but it won’t matter.  The hill is calling your name.  Bring your coupon and let’s dance.  HC in the thread.

The Scene:  The rain had stopped for the most part but it was still wet.  That is ok.  Today was about getting dirty if need be and putting in the work.  I arrived around 5 to set up my cones.  Looked to be double digit numbers from Slack the night before and everyone showed up on time.

Motivators from 10

Monkey Humpers – IC (4 count) x 29

Mountain Man Poopers – IC (4 count) x 21

The Thang

THANG 1 Coupon Bucket Brigade

YHC had the PAX count off by 2’s and I had them form 2 lines, shoulder to shoulder going up the hill with their coupons piled at the bottom.  The pax next to the pile starts passing one up the hill to the next pax.  He keeps passing coupons until there are no more and then runs up the hill to the end of the line where there should be a coupon waiting for him to pass again.  The idea is to move the pile as fast as you can over the hill to the cone at the bottom on the other side.  At the top you face the other way so you work the other side of your body.

THANG 2 Bear and Block Ladder

YHC set up cones from the base of the hill to the top of the hill.  We will perform the ladder, in cadence, as a team and Plank for the 6 if you are a faster crawler.  Every time we go back down the hill, we repeat the blockees.

First cone:

Blockees – IC (8 count) x 10

Bear and Block from first cone to second cone

Second cone:

Blockees – IC (8 count) x 10, Big Boy Block Ups – on Q’s up x 20

Cusack carry back to First cone, repeat Blockees (I have to say I was tempted to go off script and not repeat the blockees every time we came down the hill but that doesn’t make us better)

Bear and Block from first cone to third cone

Third cone:

Blockees x 10, BBBU’s x 20, Curls – on Q’s up x 30

Cusack carry back to First cone, repeat Blockees

Bear and Block from first cone to fourth cone

Fourth cone:

Blockees x 10, BBBU’s x 20, Curls x 30, Dark Tower Chest Press – on Q’s up x 40 (YHC struggled with these)

Cusack carry back to First cone, repeat Blockees

Bear and Block from first cone to fifth cone

Fifth cone:  (10 minutes left, this was timed pretty good)

Blockees x 10, BBBU’s x 20, Curls x 30, Dark Tower Chest Press x 40, Lay coupon on the ground, Squats – your 6 touches the coupon – on Q’s down x 50

We stayed at the top of the hill and circled up for…

Abominable Snow Race

Complex 3rd Anniversary

Prayers

Lord, thank you for giving us the perseverance to get out of bed and enjoy this challenging morning together.  Protect these men as they go about their day and all of those they come in contact with.  In your name we pray, Amen.

Naked Man Moleskin

This past week, I did something completely outside my comfort zone, I signed up for the Abominable Snow Race.  This will be my first obstacle course race, ever.  Never in my life would I have thought of doing this ever.  Running marathons feels like a cake walk in comparison because I know what to expect with a marathon.  With an OCR, there is a lot left to the unknown.  Do you want to know what made me want to do it this year?  It was the group of guys that had already signed up.  Bonds are forged in challenging situations.  I feel like I’m missing those bonds in my life.  So, I’m putting myself out there, challenging myself to do something I’ve never done.  But also to be there for the guy on my right and the guy on my left.  Shield Lock.  Brotherhood.

Peace,

Cousin Eddie
