Discussed the devastating impact of the recent death of V-Day (Brian Churchill) – who lives across the street from Hooch and I. V-Day who posted once on Hooch’s EH was 38-years old and died in his wife’s arms in front of his three young children 200 yards from completing his 6th marathon while on a Boston qualifying pace. As I drive by his house daily I feel his absence and have been reflecting a lot on the fragility and fleeting nature of life. Here today and gone tomorrow in a breath.
In the Bible, in Psalm 34 David, king of Israel, wrote:
Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered — how fleeting my life is. You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath. We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth, not knowing who will spend it. And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you.
I encourage everyone to be aware of how brief and precious our time is. Do not put off the important things believing you’ll have time for them later.
One thing that really impacted me was when I heard that V-Day and his family had attended church at the invitation of a neighbor the week before he died. I encourage us not to procrastinate pursuing our faith. I, like I’m sure others, thought when I was younger that I would get serious about my faith once I was married, or once I had kids, or once I wasn’t so busy, or once I didn’t have so many games on the weekends. Our days are numbered and tomorrow is not promised. Consider finding the peace found through knowing you have wrestled with and pursued your faith.
Prayer
Lord, there is none like you. We praise you this morning and marvel at your creation. Thank you for these bodies that perform better the harder we work them. Thank you for blessing us with positive relationships and opportunities to work together for positive impact. We pray that we will serve others where there are needs. We lift up the prayer requests that have gone unspoken. Prayers for those who are sick and suffering. Please protect us, continue to bless us and help us serve others, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lessons
- 6 was the most frequently rolled number with 4 coming in second (surprising). Team 1 was the only team to roll box cars once and it took several minutes to run the loop. That and Team 1 only rolling three 7s to Team 2’s eight 7s likely cost Team 1 the match.
- Team 2 rolled snake eyes twice (Team 1 once).
- Feel like the adjustments made from last time were well received. Less reps = more rolls and less core. Last time, the PAX completed a total of 650 LBCs/Big Boys. This time only 150 Big Boys.
- I rolled an 11 on the last roll for Team 2 which sucked – At At sprinted the whole distance
Thanks
- Hooch for EHing me and encouraging me continuously since I started
- Sparky for having my 6
- WetWipe for challenging me to Q and championing F3 and the Complex
- NNHS HIMs: Bunyan, Last Call & Mia Hamm for joining me
- S’mores for making his first trip to the Complex to join his NairDown teammates
- For everyone who came out today especially late into the grinding Lincoln Games week
