Introduction

Picked up this Run Club after seeing a note from Flo on Slack saying it still needed to be led.  It isn’t an anniversary for me nor a birthday of any kind so I said we will run some hills!  Where are there hills?  Ogden Ave., over the railroad tracks.  Brick led this Q a while ago and I haven’t been back since and decided it was time.

I wanted to bring my speaker and play the song from Iron Maiden on repeat but couldn’t remember how close the houses were to the bridge and didn’t want to wake anyone up at 5:30am!

After warm-o-rama, I told everyone to set their device of choice to the app of choice to record their mileage and off we went towards Ogden Ave to run the hill (bridge) over the railroad tracks.

We ran over and back as many times as possible until 5:45am when guys started to head back to the flags for Mary.

I am not very good at coming up with anything motivational or inspiring to bring to COT.  Especially after being at Blues Clues’ Q yesterday at Black Panther and hearing what he had to say about giving back.  I basically stole his message and let the guys this morning know that giving back is what makes this group special and sets us apart from other groups in this world.  Thinking about what this group has gone through over the last week with F324 and the outstanding job we did to raise money for some great organizations is truly remarkable.  Especially considering the struggles with Covid people have gone through and going into the holiday season where money can be a little tight or budgeted for somewhere or something else.  Giving back doesn’t necessarily mean money or material things.  Giving back can be as simple as saying something nice or encouraging to someone else, spending time with loved ones or even taking a moment to do something nice for someone.  I myself need to focus more on giving back to others not only this holiday season but all year round.  It will only make me a better HIM!!
