Introduction

YOU ARE INVITED to my 50th birthday party and AO VQ Monday morning at The Citadel! Come ready to party and earn some RESPECT.

We will play fun party games while grooving to some cool tunes. The only gift you need to bring is your coupon. We will stay on pavement. It will be the event of the half century. You won’t want to miss it!

I knew I’d be up against an almost insurmountable challenge, as it was the Monday after a Super Bowl.  Fortunately the game was over in the first half, and many tuned out after a very strange halftime show, so ten PAX dragged themselves out of bed for a birthday beatdown.  A few others committed, but then pulled their HCs…

A few snow flurries in the air, 1 degree air temp and real feel…

Let’s go!

  • Thrusters
  • Yoke Lunges

Thang 2

The pax moseyed with their coupons over to the parking lot by the baseball diamonds for thang 2 for a little Dora.

  1. 100 Derkins (P1 performs 10 derkins while P2 holds plank with feet on coupon, then flip flop)
  2. 200 LBCs (P1 performs 25 LBCs with coupon on chest while P2 holds feet 6″ off ground with coupon extended over chest, then flip flop)

Circle of Trust

Birthdays are a time of reflection for me.  I look back on what I’ve accomplished, on the things I’d planned to do but haven’t, and to look ahead to the next year.  For me, turning 50 has turned out to be a challenging exercise (not that I had any say in it), but I am coming to grips with it.  I think it has something to do with the fact that, thanks to F3, I feel much younger now than when I turned 49!

I look at the guys who are older than me and how hard they work and how they push me to be better.  I want to be that inspiration for at least one younger guy to push harder.

Whenever I feel like I’m not getting where I want to go, I look at these verses from Phillipians 3:12-14 which hang on a corkboard above my desk:

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.  Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.  But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.  I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Press on men!

Naked Man Moleskin

It was great to get a surprise visit at the end of today’s post from Pork Rinds.  He EH’d me back in July, and he came to present me with a large bottle of Jameson (and of course, with bacon!) in honor of my induction into the Respect Club.  He talked about how Mr. Myagi did it for Noonan right before he passed, and he wanted to keep the tradition going.  Pork Rinds, that’s a memory I’ll treasure forever.  Thank you brother!

Until next time,

Judge Smails
