The Thang

Thang

Rucked around the loop of Black Panther making stops to do PT work.   First stop was at the school. We did the following with the ruck on:

  • 5 Burpees
  • 20 Merkins
  • 20 Squats

Rucked to 2nd and last PT stop, which was at  NE corner of park.  With ruck still on, we did:

  • 5 Burpees

Then took off the ruck for the following exercises:

  • 20 Merkins
  • 20 LBCs (while holding ruck)
  • 20 Single arm ruck swings (10 each arm)
  • 20 thrusters

It was now 5:50, and had to make it back to flags. Made it back at 5:56 by short cutting thru grass by skateboard park. Time for Mary.

Ruck mileage was 1.70 miles.

Circle of Trust

I listened to the audible Embrace the Suck by Brent Gleeson. I jotted some notes while listening to the book. Some of those notes were:

When have you ever accomplished anything in your comfort zone? You have to go outside of your comfort zone to accomplish anything. Just like me on q’s.  I don’t Q too much because of my fear of speaking, but when I do it, I feel like i am getting better every time. Have to have confidence in whatever you do. You can’t know or control what is going to happen tomorrow and it is better that way. You can’ t control what happens, just how you respond. You have control over your attitude and that is it.  You can choose to make the situation either worse for yourself or even just a bit more positive by adjusting your thought process. Adversity distorts reality, but crystallizes the truth. How you view and respond to adversity is a choice. Whatever you’re dealing with right now, think about how persevering through that struggle will benefit you once you come out on the other side. Ask yourself how you can get through this. Instead of looking for escape routes, start building a wall around all of the possible ways out and accomplish the task. It is easier to create new dreams than cling on to broken ones. Your happiness is more important than writing injustices. We should learn from the past and not dwell on it. Control what you can can and deprioritize what you can’t. If it doesn’t revolve pain, adversity, or  a challenge, it isn’t worth doing it. When have you ever achieved anything that was fulfilling that didn’t have challenges ?  Never. Set a routine. This way, when things become tough, your mind and body will already be prepared to face the elements. Pain is temporary,  Quitting stays with you forever. Once you’re able to accept the fact that things are going to be this way for the time being, you can commit yourself to excellence in this undesirable environment in order to make the best of it. When you expect the suck, you’re able to accept it, embrace it, and lean into it. Don’t let it conquer you, and  make yourself push through it.

Prayers

God, there is none like you. We praise you this morning and marvel at our creation Thank you for blessing us with these machines that perform better the harder we work, and for the positive relationships and opportunities to work together for positive impact. We pray that we will serve others where there where there are needs and seek help when we need it. We pray that COVID will go away and lift up the prayers for Ukraine and Russia and prayer requests that have gone unspoken.  Continue to bless us and favor us Lord and help us serve others, in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Naked Man Moleskin

Since it was above freezing yesterday, i thought all of the ice would be melted off of the paths, but that wasn’t the case so we had to walk on the grass near the path My intention was to try to get 2 miles averaging 15 minute mile, but with the ice and mumble chatter, we only got 1.7 miles. I also wanted to do one more PT station, but time seemed to have gone faster than intended. I was going to have the PAX do 25 or 30 reps, but 20 was a good amount of reps with the ruck.
With my COT about embracing the suck, we can all learn from it. . We can do more than we think, and sometimes even though it will suck, you have to make the most of it, and not quit by thinking positive. Thanks guys for all coming out and supporting me.
