Introduction

For my 3rd Q this week, I thought I would bring back a favorite and deliver the basketball infused beatdown at the Black Panther.  I put out the PreBlast early and was surprised that I only had 3 HCs so I started with the callouts and the PAX came through.  HC’s started to roll in and we ended up having 22 show up.  The morning came way too early, but I got up and was surprised how cold it was, 41 degrees.  I had to grab my light jacket before I stepped out the door.  I made sure I had the basketballs, chalk and music in the car and then I made my journey out west to BP.  I arrived to see Flo and Pork Rinds doing their EC Run.  I headed right over the basketball court where we would hold court today and got things set up.  The PAX started to flood into the lot and some started to try out their shooting before the fun began.  Before I knew it it was 5:15, the horn sounded and it was time for the tip-off.

I always enjoy this workout, as it combines coupon/body weight exercises, cardio and a little friendly competition.  Plus it really never feels like a workout, but as I can attest on Sunday, it did its job as I was sore all over.  After the first 3 rounds, Team 1 had performed 15 additional burpees, due to 3 straight losses, however, team 1 came out strong in round 4 with almost 50 points, which was twice the amount that had been scored by either team up until then.  It looked like Team 1 was warming up as they took down Team 2 for 3 of the next 4 rounds to tie things up a 4 wins a piece. Half Price was on fire from 3 point range for Team 1 and then Enron also caught fire from downtown for Team 1 as well.  Team 2 appeared to take a more conservative approach and go for the layups.   It came down to Round 9, and luckily we had just enough time to squeeze a winner take all round in.  The round went back and forth with Team 2 squeezing out the victory, I believe it was 27-25 – so Team 1 completed their last round of penalty burpees before we jumped into a quick 30 American Hammers to close out the day.

A decent number of PAX made their way over to The Village Grind for some coffeeteria before they headed back home to start their weekend activities.  I enjoyed a few cups of Pumpkin Spice coffee to go along with the fall feeling morning.  It had been awhile since I had made it out to BP, so it was great seeing the PAX.

Thanks for continuing to come out and support me and the other PAX.  Keep Pushing.  Until next time…
