Introduction

A lucky 13 PAX came out to join YHC at The Bear to Be Prepared on a beautiful Friday AM.  We arrived to find the parking lot torn up in chunks, presumably from Urban Cowboys outstanding site Q prework.  The man never quits, even invents obstacles (and a police record).   YHC knew it was a good start.

Warm-O-Rama

  • Motivators from 6
  • Hip Openers
  • Down dog & pedal the legs – started the overview while in down dog

The Thang

Setup for the day: Partner DORA / pearls.  Each PAX was asked to learn one interesting thing about your partner thru today.
    • Rev up the engines- jump rope partners – when ANY partner misses, you both miss
      • 3 min boxing round
      • Jump rope – when you miss / tire and drop the OYO cadence for any reason – drop and do 3 burpees
      • Intention was to do 2-3 rounds, perhaps at Mary….but just did one to save time
  • Brisk pace onwards with partners to designated ‘pearls/
      • Pearl 1 – fountain, delightfully turned on for us (or the season)
        • 15 Bench jumps or step ups on fountain
        • 100 hand release merkins  in middle
      • Pearl #2 – hill + Pull ups
        • pull ups (any grip) – 100
        • Run to hill, Bernie Sanders up the hill, run to pull ups
      • Pearl #3 – Pavilion with tables
        • Roll Overs – 200
          • 5 dips then 5 push up (each one counts)
          • Other partner bear crawls down sand and crab walks back (or jogs, given time)
Final event: A Partner sprint around the lake, winning team gets coffee; last partner team back does 10 burpees
Ring of Fire Mary – plank while each telling one thing you learned about your partner

Circle of Trust

I don’t believe there’s a perfect path for anyone, no destiny in that way.  Rather, if time is a conveyor belt always moving forward, it’s up to us to grab out at an oppty that presents itself along the way.  The Big idea is never know when you’ll need it.  Case in point: Double Coupon carries races we’ve done alot of recently.  YHC was on Spring Break in AZ with family, got to a crowded airport.  Ad to make the flight sprinting pushing baby stroller in one hand and carrying car seat straight arm with other.  All made possibly by a CSAUP event like coupon carriers to strengthen 🙂
I believe we all consciously or subconsciously (both) move in small steps towards what we really need…but have to also be prepared to grab the big ones.  When something nags at you, catches you – do it.  You all did that for F3…an idea on its face can seem a bit ridiculous- getting up in the dark to huff and puff with a cinder block …but I bet no one regrets that. In the same way – when the next great opportunity  (and there WILL be many more) …do it and don’t look Back.  Aye

Naked Man Moleskin

House Arrest & Bootlegger crushed the partner race, winning the gold medal.  Extra points for taking the shortest distance around the lake / off roading.

AAR – would have liked to time the transitions better as sometimes (on the hill) runners like Uncle Nacho were gabbing and we couldn’t rotate the group.  Could have made more seamless on my part.

Highlight of the session was dynamic partner duo NoseJob and Yul Brynner.  They got to know each other so well, they referred to each other as ‘NoseBleed’ and ‘You Who’ at the end.  Maybe next post….
