Circle of Trust

Shared an excerpt I had bookmarked from the book Relentless: From Good to Great to Unstoppable by Tim S. Grove.

“It’s time to stop listening to what everyone else says about you, telling you what to do, how to act, how you should feel. Let them judge you by your results, and nothing else; it’s none of their business how you get where you’re going. If you’re relentless, there is no halfway, no could or should or maybe, Don’t tell me the glass if half-full of half-empty; you either have something in that glass or you don’t.

Decide. Commit. Act. Succeed. Repeat.

I don’t care how good you think you are, or how great others think you are – you can improve, and you will. Being relentless means demanding more of yourself than anyone else could ever demand of you, knowing that every time you stop, you can still do more. You must do more.

The minute your mind thinks, “Done” your instincts say, “Next.”

The above is easier read than done. Doesn’t mean we don’t keep trying every day we are blessed with here on this earth.

Naked Man Moleskin

I did not share this part though (exercise brain!). I had not added this Q to my calendar so it was not on my radar until I learned about a missing pre-blast around 4 pm. After a few posts already this week and an IronPax morning on Wednesday, I had already “committed” to sleeping in this morning. I felt I had done enough early morning work to reward myself and thought my sleep deficit was adding up enough I deserved to catch up.

As I started to create excuses I was able to stop myself pretty quickly. I was able to remind myself of that part of the book, as well as some recent podcasts and conversations about how posting in the Gloom isn’t always about doing it for yourself. Sometimes it’s just as much about being there for the other PAX – those that may have the same struggle or the same hesitancy or the same pains and soreness. Supporting newer Pax, supporting special mornings, setting an example for those around you. Sometimes it’s about putting together a nice little beatdown for those that maybe didn’t do IronPax yesterday so are fresh and in need of a good ass-whooping.

I quickly threw out the Pre-blast and within 4 minutes had HC’s from a few beasts such as FIB, Snoop-a-loop, and Appletini, and from there some mojo grew and it was clear it was ON! Blart returning to the Gloom after a few months’ hiatus training for Hood 2 Coast! Tugboat in town from Kansas City! The first 3 Nant’an’s of F3 Naperville at the same workout – FIB, Blart, and Roach Coach!! I am Thankful I did not give in. Thankful to be reminded of what it means to strive to be Relentless. Thankful for the opportunity to Q a squad of High Impact Man to start my Thursday!

SYITG. Love,

Uncle Rico
