Introduction
Never done a black diamond before? Not sure if you can handle it or keep up? There is only one way to find out. I’m throwing it out there as a challenge to all of those who have not done a BD before – show up and prove it to YOURSELF that you CAN do it.

Break off into two teams: Team Wide Right and Team Chainlink
The Thang
- Team Indian Run to Riverwalk Labyrinth – A little chaotic with 2 teams running down the sidewalk.
At the labyrinth, did the following in cadence:
- 10 Derkins
- 20 Decline Shoulder Taps
- 30 Step ups
- 20 Incline Merkins
- 20 Decline Shoulder Taps
- 10 Derkins
Mosey to City Hall Parking Deck
- Burpee’s every parking space – This was a gasser!
Team Indian Run to turf field
- Partner Up
- Partner 1: Runs to goal line and does 5 burpees
- Partner 2: Big Boys until he gets back.
- Move up 10 yards every time each guy returns. Go until reach the opposite goal line
Back into original Teams: 20 yard wheelbarrow relay race down and back. Switch at 20 yards. Rest of team does monkey humpers while waiting.
(Teams) Merkin competition. Man v man on Baby Hands’ down. Go until 1 person burns out. I’d say Bassmaster was the champion as he outlasted Muggsy!
Indian run back to parking lot for Mary, which consisted of American Hammers and 3 minutes of plank work.
Circle of Trust
Legendary MSU Football coach – Mark Dantonio took over an MSU program that was a perennial underachiever. He came in and talked of championships and Rose Bowls but nobody believed that would happen.
6 years later, after his 2nd Big Ten title and a Rose Bowl win, he said this:
“You’ve got to find the inches, and more importantly, you’ve got to believe that you belong there, too,” Dantonio said. “You can’t second-guess yourself. You have to dream big.”
As somebody who tends to second guess myself, rather than trust my instincts or training, I always think about that quote. Find the inches, don’t second guess yourself and dream big.
Naked Man Moleskin
Black Diamonds are a great example of simply believing in yourself. Is it harder than a regular BC? Yes! Did we have 4 BD virgins almost puke? Yes! But they finished and now know they can do it and we’ll see them out there again KNOWING that they can do it.
