Introduction

Glorious morning out in the gloom! It was balmy (34.7 degrees), cloudy with 100% chance of beatdown.

Core Principles

  • Peer lead in a rotating fashion
  • Held outdoors, rain or shine
  • Open to all men
  • Free of charge
  • Ends in a Circle of Trust

Disclaimer was given. Hope was held out that Carmen San Diego didn’t leave his friend Goldie high and dry on his birthday, but alas maybe just a communication mix up on which AO to meet at? Either way, we proceeded without him.

Warm-O-Rama

  • Abe Bigotas (IC to 10)
  • Motivators from 7 (IC)
  • Arm Circles (IC – forward and backwards)
  • Motivators from 6 (IC)
  • Arm Stretches (both sides for 15 seconds)

Then it was time to move!

The Thang

Simple, yet effective Thangs.

Thang 1 – DORAcides – Partner 1 does suicides in the parking lot while partner 2 does the exercise. Then switch.

  • 100 Curls
  • 200 Goblet Squats
  • 300 Chest Press
  • 400 SSH
    • Those that finished early kept up with the suicides and did seal claps as the exercise.

Thang 2 – Bear Brawls

  • One of my favorites. Partner up, one guy does a bear crawl while his partner pushes against his shoulders. Parking lot across and back. Did it twice for each guy.

Thang 3 – Bataan Death March – quarter mile loop around the lot.

  • Last man in line does 5 merkins

Mary

  • Drill Instructors
    • I called out the instructions, and every pax follows. On your face, on your feet, on your 12, and on your 6.
  • American Hammers (IC to 25)
  • LBCs (IC to 30)

Circle of Trust

COT

We lifted up prayers specifically for:

  • Evan (and specifically Evan’s family as they cope with his loss)
  • Danielle
  • Jeff
  • Hadessa
  • Faye (from F3 midlands request)

Today is my Dad’s birthday (and Goldie’s!). My parents got divorced when I was 12 and my brother and I ended up living with my dad. He’s a good man. Not perfect by any stretch, but he’s done the best he could for us. Thinking about my Dad has me thinking about the responsibilities of being a father and the impact we specifically have on our children. The research shows that fathers are critical to leading children and keeping them from falling into the wrong hands. When their little, we nurse them. Then we have be their king and ensure they know right from wrong to keep them safe. The most critical stage though is teacher or coach. That time when they question and process the world around them and look to us to help them start to understand their purpose and why we’re here. It’s a lot of responsibility, but it’s also important for us to remember that we don’t have to be perfect fathers. We just have to put our kids and families first and love them in the same way that our God loves us and is there for us.

Prayer:

Dear God,

Thank you for all the fathers and father-figures in this world and for the many ways you use them to lovingly guide others to Your heart. I ask that you would bless them and give them great joy and peace. May they see You and know You in new ways. Show them how much you love them and care about them. Guide their steps, use their hands, and make them a blessing to others as you continue to fulfill your special purpose for their lives.

Amen.
