Introduction

No real fancy intro – just really wanting to get back into it & getting on the Q sheet. Nothing super creative – just ladder and putting in the rep and hard work.

Just wanted to make sure that what I have/had planned was going to be worth the HIMs price of admission.

Do hard(er) things

One of my personal hard(er) things is to get out and be in the gloom with the guys. Last couple of years have given me a kinds of excuses to not get out there.

Lately – in the last few months – during my Bible devotion times and devotion times with kids, I have been meditating on “Doing Hard Things”.

Been sharing and challenging my kids on that. Which in turns really challenges me to “put my money where my mouth is” so to speak – to Do Hard Things.

Have heard this JFK quote about going to moon and really found it challenging / inspiring. Paraphrasing, he says something to the effect that “We Do These Things Not Because They Are Easy But Because They Are Hard”.

Life teaches us to look for easy way out. Last couple of years have been hard for a lot for variety of reasons

What are our “hard(er) things”. Putting the phone down and engaging my kids instead of being “lazy” and wanting to do my thing? Is it setting time out to connect with my wife? It may seem like a “small thing” but it is hard because of getting over the inertia.

Truth is, hard things over time will become easier.
Then when you can do that hard thing, you are then able to go do other hard(er) things

Lastly, as men we love the machismo of  “being tough” and like Dave Goggin’s challenge to us to “stay hard”.  Though there is something else to consider – do hard things but keep your hearts soft.

Keep it soft so that you can pay attention to the things that also matter, caring for your wife, your children – being a better husband, father, son, brother and friend.

Finally a verse in the Bible that encourages us when we are “doing hard things” or encountering “hard things” and it goes something like this:

“Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:2-4‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Naked Man Moleskin

As I mentioned earlier, I wanted this workout to be worth the pax time and effort of getting out of bed.

I humbly think so – we completed 3 rounds (up to the 30 rep round) and I think I was about to passout. But really thankful to @squeaks for pushing me and helping us count out our reps when I am so gassed I can’t hardly talk.

Bottom line is, I am truly honored and grateful for the group of men that joined me this morning – as well as the entire F3 Naperville and F3 Nation where we share a kinship of doing “hard things” together.

We are always Stronger Together.
