Introduction

The IronLion has now awoken for an Early BootCamp on Saturdays!  We started it off with a Scavenger Hunt (with prizes!)

Gave the F3 debrief (mens peer-led, outdoors, not professionals, modify, and end with CoT) … and the first official EIL began

Iron Lion Scavenger Hunt

  • First Command: Head South and find a spot for 10 pullups – Hint: stay between the UPRIGHTS
  • Stations
    • Goal posts on S. field – pullups
      • Next Command: Simon & Garfunkel say: run to a “Bridge Over Troubled Water” (there do 20 Merkins; 40 Prisoner Squats; repeat twice)
    • Bridge over Pond (put sign WRONG BRIDGE on bridge over river)
      • Next Command: Red Hot Chili Pepper’s sang about this place: it’s “where I drew some blood” (there do 15 Burpees; 30 Bonnie Blairs; repeat twice)
    • Under the Burlington Bridge over River
      • Next Command: Pink Floyd told us: “all in all you’re just another brick in the wall” ~ not any wall, but one with Lion Pride (there do 10 handstand pushups; 2min wall-sits; repeat twice)
    • Lion Pride Wall
      • Next Command: Iron Maiden says “Run to the Hills, run for your lives” (there bear crawl up that hill and then do Motivators from 14)
    • Hill
      • Next Command: a covered spot with benches you will find, a shitload of these you will not mind… (there do 50 Dips; 10 Ranger Merkins; repeat twice)
    • Gazebo near Start
      • Next Command: Ebeneezer’s truck ain’t scary, lift up the mat and wait for Mary

Let Your Habits Control You (but think critically about them)

A “habit” is basically a fixed way of thinking, willing, or feeling acquired through previous repetition of a mental experience.

They can be positive – F3 workouts ITG.

They can be negative – smoking while driving, drinks at night on the couch.

They can be neutral – performing a job task in same way.

Key takeaway: focus on your habits like an outsider.  Grab some paper and list a few from each column, and try to make a conscious effort to alter them.

Naked Man Moleskin

0445 – YHC arrived to place “clues” at exercise stations.  Conditions were icy (really icy).  Also met a few coyotes ITG, so shagged them off (it’s a mens-only workout)

0515 – time to roll; Warmup (of course, there were Pooh Bears and I did the voice) and debrief of Scavenger Hunt (exercises given at prior station along with clue to find next location)

0520 to 0555 – began moving (slowly over icy paths); the first clue could’ve been more descriptive, as we ambled around looking for the “Bridge Over Troubled Waters;” the spacing of stations could also be reduced in order to shorten to our allotted 45 minutes; the repeat exercises twice got shorted and the Motivators from 14 will be saved for another day

  • TIME WAITS FOR NO MAN: certainly today!

0555 – one station to go, and we got it right under the wire by combining Announcements into the exercises (that’s what happens when you’ve got the Best SiteQ in the biz ~ Cousin Eddie)

0600 – delivered CoT as we made it to end (gift certificates for CoffeeterIA under mat of my pickup)

Many thanks to Cousin Eddie, Magellan, Seadoo, and Sulley for joining and being the testers for a Scavenger Hunt.  YHC will certainly bring it back, with modifications based on the feedback!
