Introduction

Seems like the creativity bug didn’t bite last night as YHC was planning this one. I wanted to be sure we got our 100 Burpees in, so put this together to make sure we hit that number, and got a bit of other work in as well.

Preblast went up right around the time that slack went down yesterday, so HCs were light for most of the day. A few trickled in during the evening, and at bedtime, it was a solid crew of HIMs that would be joining.

YHC arrived early, jogged over to the space between the ballfields and set up cones. Handy Manny arrived around the same time. A few more cars had pulled in, so YHC grabbed my coupon and got ready to get started.

Warm-O-Rama

YHC knew that the workout would be tough to finish so the WoR was short and consisted of:

20 SSH in Cadence
10 Abe Vigotas in Cadence
10 Arm Circles forward and Backward in Cadence

Grab the coupons and mosey on over by the pavilion to give instructions for Thang 1.

The Thang

Thang 1: As said, creativity didn’t work in my favor, but YHC did want to add some variety to the burpees so..

11s
Blockees and Wide Leg situps – each leg counts as one (lay down with legs spread, one hand behind head, one hand reaching up. Sit up and twist to reach opposite toe, return to start position, flapjack arms and repeat – that’s one).

Thang 2:

11s
Burpees and One Legged Dips (Find a bench, get in dip position, raise a leg, do a dip, switch legs, do a dip – that counts as one).

YHC had another thang prepared just in case, but this took us to 5:58, so no time for that. We grabbed our coupons and moseyed back to the flags. Plank was held until the 6 made it (just a few seconds).

Circle of Trust

CoT was to build on what was said yesterday by Handy Manny. He spoke about the importance of putting pen to paper, and writing down goals. This helps us be accountable to what it is that we want to accomplish. As YHC reflected, and thought about goals, a quote by Wayne Gretzky came to mind – “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. When it comes to goal setting, it seems like we may as well be bold and set lofty goals – this shouldn’t be done recklessly, we should have our feet on solid ground to take our shot, be that our faith, our family, or other support systems, but we should set lofty goals. If we do, and we strive to achieve them, while we may not hit 100% of our goals, we may achieve more than we thought possible.

Prayers were said thanking the Sky Q for our health, and the platform that F3 provides for us to have fellowship and support each other as men through the year.

Naked Man Moleskin

As YHC is taking on the MABA challenge, it will be interesting to see what sort of workouts are done to help PAX achieve their goals of 100 burpees per day. Seems like while a burpee is a great exercise, it is hard to work it into a Q, add some variety, and make it fun. YHC looks forward to seeing how the month progresses, helping other PAX achieve their goals, and find ways to incorporate burpees in a (perhaps more creative) way in a couple weeks.
