08/26/2020 - The Outpost - IPC Week Zero

Introduction

Welp. Routine was posted for us. Not much to plan. Cept trying to figure out a good visual cue distance of 400m. And keep track of the all HC’s. 28 PAX. At OP. Not bad. Course, we had 73dg weather kicking it off this morning. Ugh.

Mad props to Quarter Cart for showing up early with me to help set up. SiteQ Honor Roll right there.

Oh and Trailer Park dropped some EC running. Just for fun.

Warm-O-Rama

Did things a little different this morning. Large group. Had to split. So walked through the routine first, then counted off to separate into 2 groups. QC took half, I took half, and went to either end of the 400m and did a quick warm up of SSH, Good Mornings, and Arm Circles. Then it was IPC!!

CoT Message:

This morning wasn’t executed perfectly. It didn’t go exactly as planned. But it can serve as an example of how F3 makes us better leaders. Pulling off an F3 workout isn’t as simple as showing up and exercising. It takes planning, preparation, structure, and confidence. Even the planning for this was smooth but got blown up when we got onsite. When we first lead our VQ, there’s typically a lot of anxiety, or pressure to perform. That can overwhelm without preparation, and without a strong plan (and a plan to change the plan) confidence is lost.

This is what F3 teaches us. How to step into the role of leadership, and bring that confidence into our work places and into our families as husbands and dads. And even when things don’t go as planned, we have brothers to rely on. Quarter Cart/Leuben/Elway/Rico all stepped in at some point. Leading 28 men isn’t easy! But knowing we can support each other, and have the confidence to lead through the adversity is what F3 does for us.

So raise your hand, get on your VQ, tap a brother on the shoulder to help provide some pointers, then execute!

Takeaways for next weeks IPC:

Plan for a large group and modify if necessary.
Keep instructions short and tight. We need all the time we can get for the IPC workouts.
Pre-plan the timing. If you can source an Ipad, use that.
Get their early. And have 2-3 men ready to tap if you need help.
