I was watching the recent David Letterman interview of David Chappelle on Netflix. Letterman was kinda teasing Chappelle for choosing to live with his family in suburban Ohio. Chappelle was explaining to Letterman why he likes living in his hometown and he said he has realized he might not be able to change the world but he can help clean-up his corner of it.

I can get caught up in media and in the focus on big-name politicians and celebrities, and what they are doing or not doing – criticizing them makes me feel powerful but really I have no control over the course of the world events. What I do have the potential to impact is my circle of friends, family and community. So piggybacking on what Hooch and Putz shared earlier this week I want to encourage us to continue to focus on the people who have been put in our path and be intentional about pursuing ways to positively impact them.

In the Bible, in Daniel, it says that God controls the course of world events; that he removes kings and sets up other kings.

So, as I turn the page on my first year in F3, I’m thankful for you guys and I encourage us all to focus on the circle of influence we’ve been given and trust God to handle those things beyond our control.

7. Prayer
God, there is none like you. We praise you this morning and marvel at your creation. Thank you for blessing us with positive relationships and opportunities to work together for positive impact. We pray that we will serve others where there are needs and seek help when we need it. We lift up the prayer requests that were shared and those that have gone unspoken. Continue to bless us and favor us Lord and help us serve others, in your name, Amen.
