Line up on DuPage River Trail

Explained we are going to do 400, 800, 1200 and 1600m intervals southbound on the trail.  Max effort on every interval

Off we went for the first 400

10 count after each interval and started next one

Hit 2.5 miles after first 1600 interval in the next parking lot.

For the next 10 minutes roughly over 1 mile we did a loop up and around the hill by the lot.

5:35 circled back up to start intervals again.

1600, 1200, 800, 400 was the order heading back to flags.

Finished the intervals about 5:57 so did a recovery jog back to flags.  I went the wrong direction on the trail so made the recovery jog a little longer.  Once we turned around back to flags we got there right at 6:00.

Circle of Trust

Same message I gave at the Complex yesterday.  Thought a lot about freedom this weekend.  With the great freedom we have in this country comes great responsibility. Often times we focus soley on freedom/being free and don’t talk about the responsibility that comes with this great gift of freedom.  We are free to sleep in or get our butts out of bed to workout and take care of our bodies.  We are free to put cased meets, beers and so on in our bodies as much as we want or make healthy choices more often.  We are free to be indifferent about all that is going on in our world or we can make choices that get us involved in improving the world around us.

God made us free and blessed us to live in this great country.  Let’s continue to remind ourselves that being free also means taking responsibility for our free actions.   The more we realize the great responsibility we have with our freedom the more our actions will reflect positive, community changing values that will leave those around us better off.

Prayed for Glenn’s co-worked Hitesh Patel who passed away unexpectedly at 47

Prayers for all those in Highland Park and who have been impacted by that tragedy

Prayed Hot Box and his family as he begins his battle against Hodgkin’s Disease

Moment of silent prayer before we closed with an Our Father

I was not able to scout the trail before we started so was a little nervous I didn’t have the 2.5 mile distance exactly measured for our intervals.  Thankfully my guesstimation of the trail distance worked out just like I wanted it to so we could do the hill work after the first round of intervals.  Also happy to hear during AAR that the new location was liked by the PAX’s so I would imagine we will use this again for BDRC.

Big thanks to Serena for leading the pack and stopping at each interval distance so the rest of the group knew where to stop and I could mark the distance for our second round of intervals.

Great to have Donkey out for first BDRC, he tackled it like a champ.

All the other HIM’s went all out on every interval and on the hill.  Great job Gents!  The heat and the little bit of rain didn’t scare this crew away….well unless your name was Wide Right
