Sharing.

Sharing is probably one of the first lessons we were taught as boys. It’s also one of the first virtues we teach our children. By nature, children are inherently possessive and must be taught to share.

When I think of sharing, mostly images of giving up some of my material possessions, giving up my time for a cause and giving up my time to help someone, comes to mind.

One Sunday at church, while being thankful of of F3 in my life,  the word SHARING came to mind. The word popped while I was thinking what makes F3 work? Sharing, I thought. It’s because we share – that’s why the F3 brotherhood is strong.

When we workout in the gloom, we experience and go through the same – the pain, the suffering. When something is funny, we laugh. In those exact moments, we share something unique based on what we know about each other and our history together.

When we push each other to keep on, and look out for the six, we show our concern, and we share our strength.

When we step up or take over some responsibilities, to Q or site Q for someone who can’t make it, we don’t do it as a favor. A favor is asked, while in F3 we simply step up expecting nothing in exchange. It isn’t  volunteer work, because we reap benefits. The benefit is we get to share our time and effort with those willing to spend that time and effort with us.

When one of us needs prayers, we share our compassion. But above all we share our Faith. We share our belief of goodwill and healing.

When we  come out in the gloom, earlier than God, we share a special time with men of kindred spirits; to work out, to be stronger, to be better, to share our wisdom and experience, humor and outlook. And at the end, we always leave with more than what we came with.

This to me, is why the F3 brotherhood is strong – sharing without expectations.
