We will follow ’s :us: VETERAN’S DAY :us: CHAD1000X Q.
His Q is intended to bring attention to the serious issue of suicide among our military.
This LDT Q will allow for HIMs to continue their CHAD1000X workout until they reach their 1000th step, and this workout will be built so the rest of us who either finished their steps or couldn’t make it to the CHAD1000X can rally around and workout next those who are still stepping. We will start directly after ’s CoT which means we may not begin exactly at 6:15am.  Don’t worry- we’re not official until next Thursday so we can still do whatever the hell we want!Bring your Coupons and HC in the thread below.

Circle of Trust

Today’s Late Dark Tower AO piggybacked Riunite’s Veterans Day Black Diamond Q in which he honored Veterans and he focused his attention on the issue of suicide among Veterans.   Riunite led 25 PAX in a  CHAD1000X workout and during his CoT regarding the issue of suicide among our military , Riunite simply let the facts get his point across:  In the past 20 plus years of conflict, over 7,000 US soldiers have lost their lives in service, in that same time, over 30,000 military and veterans have committed suicide.  These numbers shook the PAX (I suppose I can’t speak for everyone there, but hearing those numbers shook me).  Riunite encouraged the PAX to listen to the  Jocko podcast with Sarah Wilkinson, Gold Star Wife of Navy SEAL Chad Wilkinson to help get a better sense of the emotional toll this issue has taken on the families who have been left behind.

I repeated the facts that Riunite had pointed out during his CoT,

For those of us who have never served, it is impossible to ever truly know or understand the trials Veterans have faced, the split decisions they’ve had to make or the actions they’ve been forced to take, but it is important we do our best to try to understand.

My paternal grandfather fought in WWI, I have only recently learned the battles he fought in- I can’t recall the name of one battle in particular at the moment but, after researching it a few years ago, I came to learn that it was considered to be one of the most brutal battles of WWI, if not the entire 20th Century.  When I was a young kid, I asked him once if he was proud of the medals he got from the war.  His response:  “The only medal I cared about was the metal they took out of my legs when I got back to the States.”  That was all he ever said about his time in WWI.

He led a somewhat nomadic lifestyle after the war and I now take time to try imagine the decisions he must have had to make in the heat of battle and the actions he had to take and I wonder how the experiences he had during the war impacted him, and if the wandering lifestyle he led after the war was the best way for him to cope with those experiences.   It’s possible his time in the war had no negative impact on his life, I’ll never know for sure; but my grandpa’s face is the face and his life after the war is the life I use to try to help imagine what veterans across the country who might be suffering have gone through.

Naked Man Moleskin

Face Plant showed up to the AO (of course he brought kettlebells with him to help with my Q) and he brought an FNG who he does physical therapy with twice per week.  Face Plant suggested the F3 name Trainwreck and the FNG seemed to love the name.  Normally, an FNG’s approval of a name is a sure fire way to ensure that he does not get the name, but Trainwreck is one tough hombre who survived a tragic car accident years ago, so he got to keep the kickass name!

Not only do we all appreciate all Face Plant does for F3, but we should all be sure to thank Face Plant for his service as a Marine.  It was an honor to workout with Face Plant today on Veterans Day.
