Introduction

YHC set his alarm for 3:23am much to the dismay of his M. Plenty of time to get all my regular shits and my nervous shits out. Got to Dark Tower around 4:15am to scope out the final plan. Original plan was to use the football field but it was still locked and I didn’t want to risk jumping the fence and being banned from my alma mater for life. Pax started to roll in around 4;50-4:55am and by the way they were walking it seemed like most of them had gotten their shits out too. If not, they were due for a rude awakening after warm-o-rama.

The Thang

Thang 1 – Told the Pax where we were running to and how we were getting there and that we were getting there as fast as we could. There were some green cones placed on Hillside Ave. exactly one mile away from the start line (Parking lot – Down Aurora Ave, Right on Washington, Right on Hillside, up the hill and to the cones on the right side of the road. YHC led the pack, followed by Smokey, Aladdin, Harbaugh, and Bjorn if I remember correctly. Not sure everyone thought I was serious when I said we were going to get there as fast as we could.

Thang 2 – Headed to the Porter St. parking lots that had a nice little 250-300 yard loop.

Partner Dora – Partners count together to get to number goal for each exercise

100 Bonnie Blair’s- other partner does the loop around the parking lot

200 merkins – other partner does the loop around the parking lot

300 squats – other partner does the loop around the parking lot

400 shoulder taps – other partner does the loop around the parking lot

Thang 3 – Cones set out 75 yards apart

Round 1 – Lunge full 75 yards while YHC yells out for 10 big boys every 8-9 yards

Round 2 – Broad jumps full 75 yards with a burpee after each broad jump

Round 3 – Bear crawl w/ 10 Bobby Hurley’s every 8-9 yards (Didn’t have time to complete

Thang 4 – Monkey Humper Circle of Death (up to 5)

YHC starts with 1 monkey humper – Go around in a circle and each Pax does 1 monkey humper (others hold monkey humper down position), 2 monkey humpers by each PAX, 3, 4, 5. Legs were dead. Monkey Humper form was impressive. Looks like some PAX practice this in some way on the weekend or something.

Thang 5 – 1 mile Indian run back to the flag (arrived at exactly 6am)

Friday during Q source we learned about 3S2T – Speed, Strength, Stamina, Physical Toughness, Mental Toughness. On Tuesday June 16th of 2020 I didn’t have much of any of these 5 characteristics. Tonka and Smokey dragged my ass out that morning after months of prodding and from that day on I have tried to not look back. You all have pushed me to keep accelerating and hopefully I have pushed some of you as well. We learned Friday that Fitness is best accelerated by running with faster men. The faster man is not the same for all of us, but there is always a faster man to be found for all of us. We also learned that it works much better as a group. It really is simple though. If you want to learn how to run faster, find a faster man. If you want to get stronger, find a stronger man, if you want more stamina, workout next to the guy that never gives up. If you want more physical toughness, listen to the guy next to you who is pushing you when you are tired, being challenged, or dealing with pain. If you want more mental toughness, smile more when your ass is getting kicked, take joy in being out of your comfort zone, remove the word difficult and hard from your vocabulary, take responsibility for every aspect of your life, and be grateful that you get to be a part of this amazing group every morning when your alarm goes off at 4:30. Naked Man Moleskin

Great push today by the PAX. Thanks to Baby Hands for being the scariest looking Site Q. Mumble chatter was great when we had our breaths. Always tough to tell if Smokey and Baby Hands are flirting or if they hate each other. Bjorn let one rip during lunges and kindly warned the PAX to stay out of their lane. Everyone was impressed that Tonka was already down to 125lbs and still planned on losing another 10! Looking forward to leading another BD when the warmer weather arrives!
