Introduction

I showed up unusually early at 5AM as my adrenaline was already pumping and didn’t get much sleep before.  As I stretched out for warm-o-rama, all the guys showed up, and I was ready to roll.  I warned everyone that I am not a professional, but I will do my best to lead them in a dirte (dirtay?) beatdown.

Warm-O-Rama

  • Side Straddle Hops
  • Goofballs
  • Abe Vegodas
  • Arm Circles

(I may have gone a little quick through warm-o-rama as I almost gassed out before we started the thang!)

The Thang

Thang 1 – Indian Run w/ Exercise Race

Mosey over to the base of the hill with our coupons.  Count off into groups of 5 to 7.  Spread groups out along base of the hill.   Complete Indian Run all the way to the walking path.  Once there, each complete 50 grady corns, 40 squats, 30 merkins, 20 big boys, & 10 burpees.  You can pick up reps from the 6 once complete.  Once the team is complete, Indian run back to the base of the hill.  Repeat 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 exercises.  Once team is complete, do SSH or lunges until the all teams are complete.

Thang 2 – Bernie Sanders Hill / Coupon Dora

Partner up for a Bernie Sanders / Coupon Dora.  Partner #1 will Bernie Sanders up the hill, do 10 big boys & 20 american hammers (10 each side), then run back down.  Partner #2 will be doing coupon work.  As partners, you must complete 200 chest presses, 200 curls, (modified) 100 overhead presses,  100 bent over rows, & 100 skull crushers.  We didn’t finish the skull crushers, but we cut it short for Mary…

Mary

  • Flutter Kicks
  • LBCs
  • Scissor Kicks
  • Merkin Ring of Fire

Circle of Trust

For those of know me, I have been coming to F3 for a year now, or as I mentioned in my preblast, like 6 months.  I took the winter off because I wimped out and was only thinking about the 1st “F” and that I could do it alone.  However, you can’t do life alone.  Now that I have been back at it for a few months, the 2nd “F” has really driven me to more consistently attended.  I am not a morning person, and most days I show up late.  Many days the only thing that stops me from going back to bed after I know I am going to be late is knowing the caliber of men that are expecting me to be here.  I have been a Christian my whole life, but I have always been a bit on the sidelines.  Starting next week, I am going to take the next step with the 3rd “F” as I take the lead in a bible study with several of the F3 brothers, “Joseph & Jesus” as some have coined it.  Without this group, I would never had the confidence to step up and do something such as this…something that I have never been remotely comfortable doing before.

I wanted to share 4 quick actions that seem to fit my goals as a man…

  • Reject Passivity – most men are very challenged in this area in letting life happen to them – get up and take action!
  • Accept Responsibility – do not blame others or make excuses – own your decisions / results
  • Lead Courageously – set an example for your kids, spouses, peers…push beyond your comfort zone, and when things are hard, do not shy away from adversity
  • Invest Eternally – there is a simple principle called “what-what” – What happens when you die, and What are you going to do about it now to make it count?  Invest in something beyond yourself.  For me, that is primarily in the form of Christianity and all that comes with it.  What is it for you?

Prayer Requests – Breakaway’s Friend, Boston Butt’s Son, & Toby’s Foot

Naked Man Moleskin

Special thanks to Five Putt for having my 6.  And Vern & Woody for helping me get the bible study setup.  As well as all the PAX who showed up today to get better with me.  I heard several “this sucks” during the workout… so I think it went okay!
